With the Paris Olympic games just 15 days away, Trompie Sport will complete the Paris GT Zero hockey facility before the games officially begin.

Transvalia High School will be the second school in South-Africa and the third in Africa with the Paris GT Zero Olympic carpet installed on their hockey facility.

The system will be installed under the FIH Dry Innovation category, aligning with the FIH to make the future of hockey more sustainable.

Dry Hockey Field in the World's Oldest Desert🏑

In the heart of Namibia's ancient desert, a groundbreaking achievement has just been unveiled. The Namib Desert, renowned as the world's oldest, now hosts a state-of-the-art hockey facility at Walvis Bay Gymnasium, thanks to Trompie Sport.

Trompie Sport provided a full turnkey solution and installed the Paris GT Zero Turf by Poligras on the hockey field. This change for sustainability marks a historic moment for hockey globally, as it introduces the first-ever turf that can be played on international standards without any irrigation.

This innovative dry turf technology revolutionizes accessibility to hockey, particularly benefiting regions and continents like Africa that face severe water shortages. With this advancement, the new FIH Dry innovation category set by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) ensures that countries like Namibia can compete on an even playing field on the global stage.

After the opening ceremony, Trompie Sport has immediately commenced with the bulk civil works for the new Astro hockey facility, slated to be built at Piet Retief High School.

The school and community will soon be the owners of a Trompie Sport High Performance sand based FIH National hockey field.

The foothill of Jonkershoek mountain in Stellenbosch will soon be transformed!

WORLD'S FIRST FIH CERTIFIED DRY INNOVATION HOCKEY FIELD 🥇🏑

The 19th of March 2024 was an historic day that marked the official opening of the world's first certified Dry hockey field.

Trompie Sport was responsible for the full design and built of this facility and in partnership with Polytan GmbH we installed the Poligras Paris GT Zero Olympic carpet at Saint Andrews School, Bloemfontein.

This facility was designed and constructed without any irrigation or infill to align with the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to make hockey sustainable.

The benchmark has been set not only for hockey in South Africa but for hockey globally. We would like to thank all parties and individuals involved that contributed to the success of this first of its kind Astro Facility.

Project Update 🏑

We are happy to announce that the civil works on this new Astro facility is reaching the last stages of construction.

Transvalia High School will soon be the proud owners of their very own FIH Dry innovation hockey facility, designed and built by Trompie Sport. The turf that will be used is the Paris GT Zero carpet by Polytan Hockey Turfs , the same carpet that will be played on at this years Paris Olympics 2024.

With all civil and base works done, we have rolled out the first Poligras Paris GT Zero carpet in Walvis Bay, Namibia.

The installation has commenced and in a country surrounded by desert and water scarcity, the Paris GT zero turf was the solution for the school to optimize their playing potential to international standards without irrigation or sand infill.

New Project update🏑

With the ribbon cutting ceremony done, we are happy to announce that the construction for a new high performance sand based Astro facility will commence at Christian Brothers College Boksburg.

This turnkey project consists of a full design and build by Trompie Sport including an 350 Lux LED lighting system, that will be supplied and installed to FIH standards.

What do we have here? 🏑👀

With sand infill done, the final handover of the Hugenote High School Astro facility was formally done earlier this week.

Trompie Sport provided the school with a full turnkey solution to upgrade their existing grass hockey field, to a state of the art Astro hockey facility.

The surface we layed down is our TS 20 FIH approved High-performance carpet, which will provide the players with top level hockey playing experience.

PROJECT UPDATE🏑🏑

With the irrigation system in the final steps of completion, we have rolled out the first FIH approved High-performance carpet suitable for hybrid use at Pietersburg High School in Polokwane.

This Hybrid system allows the players to experience water-based characteristics if irrigated and gives you the ability to keep training during the week without water or other unforseen disruptions.

Big moment for Hoërskool Hugenote as the installation of the Astro turf started. The unique school colors and logo are typical Trompie Sport going the extra mile!

Project Completed 🎉

We are happy to hand over the new upgraded sporting facilities at Volkskool Graaf-Reinet, in the Eastern Cape province, South Africa.

The project scope included the construction of a new TS 20 high-performance sand dressed Astro field, a newly constructed Tartan track that will be used for long jump and training strip for the athletes. We have also upgraded the old tennis courts to an artificial multi-sport facility, that will be used for Hockey, tennis and Cricket.

Trompie Sport is exited to see the positive impact these facilities will have on the development of the athletes and players at the school.

Exciting News: The construction of a new synthetic Athletics track at Menlo Park High School has commenced.

This soon-to-be unveiled masterpiece will feature the World Athletics certified Rekortan M sandwich system from Polytan, installed by Trompie Sport. Finished in blue colors, this track is set to redefine athletics, performance and unforgettable experiences for the school’s pupils now and for future generation’s.

Today Trompie Sport started to roll out the new FIH TS 20 high-performance sand dressed turf at a High School in Bloemfontein.

Early morning start for in the picturesque Western Cape town of Ceres.
We are upgrading the local athletics stadium with new field item infrastructure. More posts will follow as the work progresses.

Trompie Sport has played a key role in preparing for NAPSO week, which is the pinnacle of Namibian school sports and an annual event. At this event, 102 Schools will participate in the week consisting of all different sports codes such as hockey, rugby, and netball. The event is held at Walvis Bay Private School, and Trompie Sport is proud to present Namibian schools with world-class sporting facilities.

NAPSO is currently hosted in Walvis Bay, and not only will 88 hockey matches be played on our Astro hockey field, but there will also be 202 netball games being played on the artificial sport netball surfaces we prepared.

Not only will you see Namibian school players showcase their talents, but there will also be a Currie Cup first division rugby game between the travelling side from the North-west, The Leopards, and they will be playing against the Namibian team, the Welwitschias.

PROJECT COMPLETED 🎉

The construction of the Astro hockey field was a collaborative effort between Trompie Sport, Rob Ferreira high School, and Witrivier Primary. The field features a high quality FIH hockey surface that provides a excellent playing experience for both player and spectators alike.

The facility will serve as a hub for hockey tournaments and competitions, bringing together players from different schools and communities.

Trompie Sport is a company with a long-standing commitment to provide high quality sports infrastructure to schools and communities throughout South Africa.

At Cradock High School, Trompie Sport managed to turn this unused area of the school into a international standard FIH 5's facility, that accomodates netball and Futsal. The project commenced early in January 2023 and final completion was done at the end of March 2023.

Hockey 5's is a fast growing sport, and with the world cup set to take place this year, we are sure that more communities, schools and universities will look to construct similar facilities.
