Mahashivratri is celebrated on the day when Lord Shiva saved the world by drinking poison that emerged from the ocean during Samudra Manthan. This poison got stored in his throat thus making it blue which is the reason that Lord Shiva is also known as Neelkanth (blue throat).
Picture of Lord Shiva would not be the same without a snake around his neck, the crescent moon, his drum, his magnificent trishul and course his faithful bull Nandi. Like everything in Hinduism all of these have symbols have a meaning. Let's find out The Jai Jais way.
This unique statue portrays Lord Shiva in a meditative lotus pose, he was known as the original yogi. Representing calmness.

💙ARE YOU CONNECTED💙
We are excited to introduce the latest book from The Jai Jais "Connected: Discovering Your Inner Guides" by Dr Seema Desai.
What would it be like to have a choice in life? To feel confident that even though things may be happening outside of your direct control, you still have choice in how things go and how you feel about them? That's what "Connected: Discovering Your Inner Guides" is all about--giving kids, who are constantly looking for ways to be heard and assert some independence--a choice. A sense of control, clarity, and ease. A way to connect with their parents, friends, teachers, siblings, and others with greater compassion and understanding.
Together, we can teach children how to live life with authenticity and courage, to lead with love, and to create for their children a world far better than the one that we have created for them.

🌸Mahavir is the most important personality in the Jain religion, for he was the last in the line of 24 Tirthankars in the current time cycle. Tirthankar means "Ford Maker" - so a Tirthankar is one who has succeeded in crossing over life's stream of rebirths and has made a path for others to follow.
Being the last of the 24 Tirthankars, Mahavir's teachings are those that are followed by Jains today.
However, the teachings are no different to those preached by all of the other Tirthankars that preceded.

🌸WISHING ALL OF YOU A VERY HAPPY RAKSHA BANDHAN🌸
What Does a Rakhi Symbolise?
A Rakhi is a bracelet usually made of red and gold threads and is tied around a brother's wrist to celebrate their relationship on Raksha Bandhan.
The word Raksha itself means protection and the word Bandhan is the verb to tie.
It is believed that when a sister ties a Rakhi on the hand of a brother it is representation of a commitment for him to honour his religious duty and to protect his sister.
When a Rakhi is tied a prayer is given asking for
happiness and prosperity.
On this special day, May Goddess
Lakshmi bless you all with peace & prosperity.
🌸Today is Sh*tala Satam🌸
Sh*tala's name means "the cooling one"., Sh*tala Mata is mentioned in many scriptures, especially in Skanda Purana as the goddess of smallpox. She is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. She is both the cause of the disease and the cure. When Sh*tala Devi first arose from a sacrificial fire, Lord Brahma told her that humans would always worship her, as long as she carried the seeds of a particular lentil called urad daal. Along with her companion, Jvarasura, the demon of fever created from the sweat of god Shiva, she travelled to visit other gods.
Along the way, her lentils turned into smallpox germs, and anyone whom they visited came down with a fever and smallpox. The gods asked Sh*tala Mata for mercy, and requested her to take her load of germs and go to Earth. She agreed and together with Jvarasura went down to Earth. Their first stop was at the court of King Birat, who was a devotee of lord Shiva. King Birat agreed to worship Sh*tala and give her a place in his kingdom, but would not give her supremacy over Shiva, so she threatened to infect his people. He was not swayed, and Sh*tala Devi released 75 different kinds of pox on his people. The disease spread far and wide, and there were many deaths. Finally, King Birat relented, and Sh*tala Mata healed him and his people.
Sh*tala Devi rides on a donkey, and she has four arms. In her hands she carries a silver broom, a fan, a small bowl, and a pot of water. She uses these items to rid a house of disease–she sweeps up the germs with her broom, uses the fan to collect them, and dumps them into the bowl. She then sprinkles water from the pot (which is water from the river Ganges) to purify the house. Sh*tala’s name means “the cooling one”. With the change of seasons and coming of the hot period, it is essential to emphasize the importance of hygiene for human health and the worship of Sh*tala Mata provides the motivation to keep the surroundings clean and hygienic.
Randhan Chhath is a day that is dedicated to the
goddess Sh*tala Ma!🙏
This is a day where all the women in a household get together to prepare dishes such as daal, rice and roti for the ritual the next day called Sh*tala Satam.
The food is prepared the day before on Randhan
Chhath as you aren't allowed to cook on Sh*tla Sataam or eat any warm food on this day. This is because legends say that Ma Sh*tala does not like anyone cooking on Sh*tala Satam day when her vrat (devotion) is being observed.
It Is believed that by celebrating Randhan Chhath and Sh*tla Sataam it brings eternal happiness for couples and their children.

🐍Nag Panchami🐍
Nag Panchami is celebrated every year on the
Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month. It is one of the significant days in the Hindu religion. On this day, Hindus worship Naga Devta Serpent God. In Vedic astrology, Nag Devata is the resident lord of Panchami T**i, this is why holy scriptures tell us to worship him on this day. The month of Shravan is dedicated to Lord Shiva. One of the most important
days is Nag Panchami. It is believed that celebrating Nag Panchami one gain Shiva's blessings and he absolves sins. Lord Shiva also carries a snake around his neck like a garland.
Nag Panchami is a festival dedicated to the
worshipping of snakes. Snakes are significant within Hinduism and are worshipped for the protection of families from any negative energies. Nag Panchami falls within the month of Shravan as snakes hold a special place in Shivas life. In the legend of the Samudra Manthan the close aides of Shiva drank the few drops that were spilt when Shiva drank the poison to save all creation. And in order to reduce the impact of the poison, devas performed Abhishek on the snakes and Lord Shiva. Which is why snakes are
celebrated by offering milk, rice and flowers in
return for blessings. On Nag Panchami, women across the nation worship serpent gods and offer them milk and pray for their brother's and family's health and well-being. According to Hindu beliefs, anything offered to snakes on this day would reach directly to the serpent gods.
The festival of Nag Panchami began when Takshak, the king of snakes, stalked King Janamejaya's father Pariksh*t and killed him. To avenge his death, King Janamejaya conducted a yaina to eliminate the entire Naga caste. The day that this yagna was stopped due to the intervention of the Brahmin Astika Rishi was the day of Nag Panchami and since then this day is celebrated for Nag Pooja.
🔱Happy Shravan Maas 🔱
May this month renew and refresh you spiritually, mentally and emotionally. May Shiv Bhagvan help us away from darkness and keep us in light always.
