ENHANCING TRANSPARENCY AND PUBLIC TRUST IN NANOTECHNOLOGY
The webinar will create awareness of the nanotechnology innovation value processes as a way to forge transparency and build public trust in nanotechnology products. The aspect is shown not inhibitive in its design but complementary and in support of the overall innovation chain. To support the HSE aspects, the communication of risks and uncertainty will be critical and public and private institutions are encouraged to design.
Introduction to University Mathematics Workshop Day 6
Motshidisi Sebogodi is young black lady from Klerksdorp in the North West province and is currently busy with her PHd in Applied Mathematics at the University of South Africa. She won the Mmamokgheti price award in 2021 for her Master's degree. She is currently a lecturer at the North West University (Mafikeng campus).
Introduction To University Mathematics Workshop Day 5
Katlego Sebogodi is a young fellow who was born and raised in Dinokana village near Zeerust in North West province. He went to the University of the Witwatersrand in 2009 to study actuarial science. In 2012, he went to North West University to do a BSc degree with four majors (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics). He continued doing his honours (double major – Maths and Applied Maths) and MSc (Maths – topology) and registered his PhD at Wits in 2018 and submitted his thesis in 18 months.
He has always been passionate with learning and helping others learn mathematics. When he was in high school, he conducted extra classes for his class mates on weekends. All his post graduate research projects were in pure mathematics, specifically in asymmetric topology. Currently his research is in mathematical physics, specifically fluid mechanics.
He authored a grade 11 and 12 mathematics study guides called Star Math Series which helps the grade 11 and 12 learners to understand exactly what they are expected to know and also to improve their marks through practicing mathematics. Dr Sebogodi is interested in improving the quality of mathematics education in his own community and South Africa at large. His main concern is the number of learners who are eligible to study for STEM careers in universities and the quality of their matric results. Dr K is a founder and CEO of an NPO called MATHSCIEMATICS which helps learners from grade 7-11 with mathematics and physics extra lessons, career guidance and prepares them for STEM career studies in universities.
Dr Sebogodi is currently a lecturer at University of Johannesburg and previously taught at North West University, Sol Plaatjie University and was a senior tutor at Witwatersrand University.
Introduction To University Mathematics Workshop Day 4
Andrew grew up in Makhanda in the Eastern Cape. He studied Mathematics and Chemistry at Rhodes University, finishing with a Masters in Mathematics. His PhD research at Oxford University (UK) focused on lattice theory. He has been working at UJ since 2012, and in 2019 was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Distinguished Award for Most Promising Young Teacher. Andrew believes that success in mathematics comes from a passion for problem solving.

Mr. Sufiyan Mallu is currently working as a Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. He completed his undergraduate studies, Honours and MSc in Mathematics at the University of Johannesburg and obtained a distinctions in various modules and passed MSc with Cum Laude. Mr. Mallu is currently enrolled for a PhD in Mathematics at the same university under the supervision of both Professor Peter Dankelmann and Dr. Sonwabile Mafunda.
