A case very close to my heart 💙 I have known Siya and his mom since he was 4 months old, making this plea very personal for me. He was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia when he was 6-weeks old & has been a fighter all his life. Siya - who is now 6 - was admitted a few weeks back and is now waiting to see a palliative care doctor to find out about home care options & next steps for him and his mom, A.

We don't know what the next steps are in his journey but we need to raise funds to help mom cover rent, transport to and from the hospital (R70 a day), toiletries and very likely other medical costs which we'll find out about soon.

Life for dad "A" and his little family of 4 is very difficult at the moment, and he needs a bit of a hand ✨💙 "A", his wife and 2 little ones live in Ferndale and have hit rock bottom after the company he worked for was liquidated. He's struggling to pay rent, has run out of formula for his 8-month-old son and their cupboards are bare. He reached out to use to help ease the pressure a bit while he hunts for work, and we need YOUR help to make it happen.

We need to raise funds to assist with groceries and data so he can apply for jobs, as well as provide his 8-month-old with formula, nappies and some clothes. Further, if you'd prefer to help with donations, you can do so in the form of the following:

Nurture Nook and A Kind Start Collaboration 🤍🤩

We are delighted to announce that Nurture Nook has partnered with A Kind Start, a wonderful NGO dedicated to supporting mothers and babies in need. A Kind Start creates bundles filled with essential items for mothers and their newborns who lack access to these vital resources. These bundles make a significant difference in the lives of many families, providing crucial support during a critical time.

Nurture Nook, an intimate studio in Sandton, focuses on maternal wellness with the philosophy that a healthy mum can be the best mum. By looking after mums, we ensure they can look after their babies. We offer groups, talks, antenatal courses, and support, as well as a small bespoke baby store. Founded by two mums, Sharmon and Nicole, who have experienced the challenges and perks of motherhood, Nurture Nook understands the need for comprehensive maternal support.

As part of this collaboration, Nurture Nook will serve as a drop-off zone for donations. We encourage our community to join us in supporting A Kind Start by contributing items for these bundles. Your generous donations can include:

A look at our care packs 💙✨ Each pack is lovingly packed by us or our donors, with the aim of providing new moms and dads with all the essentials needed to welcome their little one with kindness. Thank you all for making our work possible!

This past weekend we headed off to to connect with 130 new moms and gift each of them - and their tiny bundles - with a lovingly packed hamper of newborn & post-partum essentials 💙

A massive thank you to Lauren Wortmann and the larger team at NTT DATA Middle East and Africa for the incredible support in collecting and packing the 130 hampers. Over and above, their team donated just over R7000 in cash to help buy essentials for the packs. Your commitment to bettering South Africa is remarkable!

Another thank you must go to our individual donors who donated money, packs, and items for our packs - your support does not go unseen.

Further, we'd like to thank Bianca of Love B Bakery, Anelia, Pam, and Hedy for the donation of yummy treats to spoil the hospital staff! They were so surprised!

Lastly, thank you to the staff of Rahima Moosa who welcomed us warmly and who work tirelessly around the clock under immense pressure with very little support. Your jobs are often thankless but these women and babies are lucky to have you all ✨

A month ago we set a goal of packing 50 hampers to distribute to new moms and their newborns at Rahima Moosa Hospital for Women & Children - today we sit in awe as we finish counting 130 hampers, all ready to make a difference in someone's life 😍✨

The kindness has been remarkable - with individuals donating cash to sponsor hampers, people dropping off donations and the NTT DATA Middle East and Africa team coming together to sort and pack these 130 hampers with the utmost love and kindness. How incredible that big companies like this are taking the time to get stuck in & make a tangible difference to new moms this ?! 👏

Each of these packs is valued at between R400 and R450, meaning that thanks to our incredible individual donors and the NTT Data team, we've managed to come together and achieve over R52 000 worth of kindness.

We'll be heading off to Rahima Moosa soon to hand these packs out - watch this space.

The staff at Rahima Moosa Women and Children's Hospital work around the clock to provide care to hundreds of women and little ones every week 💗 This we'd like to celebrate their work and provide them with something sweet to brighten their day when we head through for our Mother's Day hamper drop.

This Mother's Day - 12 May 2024 - we're rallying together to pack and distribute 50 care packs (minimum - the more the better!) for moms in government hospitals 💗

Each pack includes basics for mom and baby, which include nappies, a few outfits, sanitary products, a blanket, and toiletries. Each pack is lovely put together with the knowledge that we've taken one less stress off mom's plate as she prepares to welcome her little one 🤍

We're currently working with a young mom who is still in school. She's expressed a desperate desire to not have to drop out of school, stating "I have to be better for my baby" 💗 We've helped with all the basics for her to take to the hospital when she goes into labour, but there's a need for additional support once her baby is here.

Never has the saying "it takes a village to raise a child" been more true ✨ Last week we posted an appeal for a little bub whose mom had passed away. At two weeks old, he knows no better but his granny was mourning and worried about how to take care of her little grandson. 1 week later, look what YOU all did 😍

Over and above what's seen in the picture, we received monetary donations to buy supplies, as well as another 2 bags of clothing for him, with sizes to up to 6 months. We cannot thank you all enough, we're blown away!

His mommy passed away this week after birth complications and his family is mourning and trying to look after him. Mom was breastfeeding so an urgent need is formula (Lactogen 1).
