Rustenburg – Hip hop artist Pransley Byalwe is on a mission to positively influence young people through his music. The singer, also known as Mancee in local music circles, grew up in Phokeng, just outside Rustenburg and was attracted to music at a very young age.

“I started singing when I was 11 years old after being inspired by family members who were also involved in music,” he said. His talent was polished and refined at Keledi High School where he continued pursuing his passion for hip hop.

He achieved a major breakthrough in 2021 when he released his first single, Grounded, on 30 June. He followed up that effort by releasing his second single, My Time.

He explained how he uses hip hop to spread Christian values to young people who enjoy this genre.

“I am an artist and I use hip hop to make young people turn to God. Music is spiritual and I am doing this for the kingdom of God. I focus more on hip hop because this type of music resonates with the younger generation. I seek to evoke God’s spirit within the hearts of young people because God is after the heart of a person who is willing to accept him.”

He also hopes to establish a music academy that will focus on imparting the skills he has learnt to as many young people as possible. “The plan is to make sure young people are inspired bymy work and that they also use music to turn away from societal ills such as drug abuse and alcoholism,” Byalwe explained.
