Crawling. What we work towards at Baby Builders. But why do we deem crawling as so important. The magical first year and in fact the first 1000 days of our baby’s lives are a window for brain wiring. Crawling helps with so much. Babies usually crawl in the window period between 8-10 month but it is more important that they crawl before they walk than the age at which they crawl. In a nutshell what is enhanced while crawling. 👶muscle strength and coordination. 👶control of the spine shoulders hips and legs 👶spatial orientation and body awareness 👶bilateral integration. 👶the sense of touch,proprioception and vestibular system 👶strength and endurance. 👶sense of self and independence.

When I created the Baby Builder programmes I had so much more in mind than a baby play group. At Baby Builders we build our baby’s muscles in the right way so that our babies reach their milestones in the right order. Our babies should roll first and then sit followed by crawling and then walking. Baby Builders is a holistic programme teaching you how to stimulate your baby and strengthen muscles with specialized exercises baby yoga and so much more. Baby Builders offers classes at Bub Hub in Johannesburg, in Gqeberha formerly know as PE Jessica Reeves has the rights to operate the Baby Builder programmes, and Baby Builders is expanding. Family floor time. Get your family on the floor and allow your baby the space and freedom to exercise their little bodies and experience unrestricted movement while feeling safe and secure with mommy and daddy there.

What to do if you have a happy little sitter. Happy little sitters can be the result of many different things to mention a few 👶stiffness in the hips 👶personality(nature) 👶lack of practice in transitioning. One of my favourite ways to encourage my babes to move from happy sitting to crawling is to encourage side sitting or scissor transitioning. Playing in the side sit position is wonderful to encourage flexibility, loosening of the hips and ease into the all four position. Purposeful play is how we do everything at Baby Builders.

In our baby’s first year of life they experience the world through their senses. The five senses of touch,taste,smell,sight and hearing where stimulus is received from the world all around them. There are also the two hidden senses that form an important part of our baby’s development, vestibular and proprioception where your baby receives stimulus and important messages from inside their bodies. In our Baby Builder classes we focus on the 5 senses as well as the two “hidden” senses so that your baby reaches their natural full potential. Our creepy crawlies have missed out on so much fun and socializing but at Baby Builders we are making up for missed time. I am just loving this group of incredible little people and their mommies. Class time is the best time to wire little minds, build little bodies and socialize little beings

It’s been so special receiving photos of how my lovely mommies have utilized all the stimulation and development ideas learnt in our Baby Builder YouTube videos and zoom classes but the best is yet to come. The excitement is real. Class starts in studio in October. This is what Baby Builders is about. Building little bodies, wiring little minds, stimulating senses and nurturing relationships and friendships in person. Baby Builders is a studio based stimulation and development workshop where moms and caregivers come once a week for a jam packed interactive class filled with music, movement and age appropriate fine,gross intellectual and sensory activities. Here is an awesome little tip to help develop and strengthen your baby’s little body....as your baby starts to learn to transition from one position to another allow them opportunities to work on a raised surface with interesting toys We love using suction toys at Baby Builders. In this way they strengthen their core and trunk muscles paving the way for strong little bodies. As they learn to crawl and then stand and cruise the raised surface also encourages the transitioning from sitting to standing and back down into sitting. Baby Builders builds strong bodies strengthening those muscles in the correct way to meet their milestones in your baby’s perfect timing.
