AGES Africa team has been flitting around Lesotho, Botswana and Tanzania meeting high profile dignitaries with our Waste to Energy technology from the USA. The technology will convert ALL waste including all plastic types, and excluding only glass and metal, to either energy, clean diesel or green hydrogen. They're finding this technology a game changer. Lots of stakeholders, but it's moving fast. Watch this space!

The AGES Africa team last week completed another round of Electrocoagulation treatment at an industrial landfill site. This leachate was very complex and with the laboratory system we achieved some separation. Although we had a new variable power supply, and used loads of electrode material configurations, it really needs the power of our larger EC demonstration trailer, which is the next phase in the process.

Treating industrial landfill leachate successfully, and you can almost treat any wastewater. Onward and upward!!

The AGES Africa local team with remote support from the eminent Robert Abboud of RGA Labs USA, undertook treatment trials for a waste management company to neutralise Hydrogen Sulphide and Ammonia in landfill leachate. We used our electrocoagulation system, and although we could not get our power supply past 6 volts to aid in the neutralisation process, the "smell test" indicated no presence of H 2S. This was achieved using various material electrodes which worked on the chemistry of the contaminates. The results should be in about 2 - 3 weeks time. We wait impatiently. Prior trials (see post below) treated raw leachate to clear liquid.

The AGES Africa technical team are due to commence calibration trials using an Electrocoagulation system for the removal of Hydrogen Sulphide and Ammonia from landfill leachate. Various electrode material configurations will be used to determine best results using aluminium, graphite and stainless steel plates. We find iron plates are good, but residues make it a very messy process hence using the other cleaner materials. H 2S and NH3 are the bane of any waste management company impacting air pollution at landfill sites. So we're shooting for the holy grail of leachate treatment. Watch this space!
