Highlights:
- Corporate income tax has been lowered from 28% to 27%.
- Personal income tax brackets and rebates will be adjusted by 4.5% meaning extra cash in your pocket.
(As an example, for someone younger than 65, who earns an income of R500 000, their income tax bill will be lowered by around R3 300 a year – or R276 a month.)
- A packet of 20 ci******es will cost you R1.03 more from 1 April, going up to R19.82.
- Excise duties on alcohol and to***co increase by between 4.5 and 6.5%.
- A 340ml can of beer/cider is 11c more;
- A 750ml bottle of wine will go up 17c;
- A bottle of sparkling wine will cost 76c more;
- A bottle of spirits will be R4.83 extra.
- For the first time in 32 years, there will be no increase to the general fuel levy for 2022/23.
- There will also be no increase in the Road Accident Fund levy.
- Old age and disability grants will increase by 5%.
- The child support grant increases by 4.3%.
- The foster care grant increases by 1.9%.
- R44 billion has been made available to continue the special R350 Covid-19 social relief of distress grant for another 12 months.
