Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) announces a collaboration with acclaimed South African artist Athi-Patra Ruga ahead of its highly anticipated Gala event taking place on Sunday, 11 February.

The Gala is an extraordinary celebration of art kicking off Cape Town Art Week that rolls out with Investec Cape Town Art Fair and multiple artistic activations around the city. This event will feature an Exclusive Auction from a line-up of revered artists raising funds to support the museum’s curatorial and education programming.

Season 4 of the highly anticipated Showmax reality show ’The Real Housewives of Durban’ will introduce three new faces, the youngest being businesswoman and muso Nqobile Ndlela, also known as Angel Ndlela.

Season 4 of one of Sout’Ah’s biggest reality TV shows Big Brother Mzansi has finally landed. A total of 23 dynamic housemates were chosen from all over Mzansi strutting across the Big Brother stage as they headed into the infamous house – all promising entertainment one way of the other.

This year, the show is dubbed S’ya Mosha, and will again be hosted by the resident host-with-the-most Lawrence Maleka who proved to be good at what he does, with quirky humour and jabs right through.

The verdict has been passed and the auction date has been set: heirlooms of the late South African president Nelson Mandela will be auctioned off, thanks to Makaziwe Mandela winning her bid against the South African Heritage Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA).

New York auction company Guernsey has posted a new date for the sale, settling for the 22nd of February 2024. The auction, according to Makaziwe, is to raise funds for Mandela’s memorial garden in the Eastern Cape.

The 2024 edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is at hand and the star-studded lineup and South Africa’s very own, Tyla, will be part of this year’s spectacle.

The Grammy-nominated “Water” singer-songwriter will be part of Lana Del Rey’s Friday lineup slated to get the show on the road on the 12th and 19th of April 2024, and she will be joined by the likes of Lil U*i Vert, Skepta, and Tinashe. The lineup also includes acts such as Chloe Bailey and Peso Pluma, among others."

Initially inspired by the beat, Schia recalls getting the itch to pen a song despite having a deadline for her coursework. The thrill of a looming deadline got her creative juices flowing and she finished the melody in one sitting.

‘La Vida Loca’ was written as a fun song thus the United Kingdom-based singer focused less on punchlines and more on the beat and melody. This shows in the expert way she played with her flow throughout the song, switching it up like a rollercoaster.

A yanos disc jockey with a foundation in the hip-hop scape, DJ Tumi Turna credited her learning and her finding her feet to Jozi and Cape Town-based DJ and record producer Tashinga MTK. Capitalising on the opportunity of moving to CT for her education, she topped the experience with pursing her passion behind the decks.

“Back in 2019, I randomly asked Tashinga MTK to mentor me, and he put me on during my time there. From there, I eventually went off on my own way back to KZN before I relocated to Johannesburg last year.” shares the DJ.

The 12th of January 2024 marks the second day of South Africa’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) case against Israel at The Hague, Netherlands. The case, which ensued on 11 January 2024, was initially brought forward by the SA government, accusing Israel of “genocidal acts” in its vicious onslaught of Gaza and the Palestinians.

After South Africa’s foray on Thursday, which drew global attention and praise, the second day of the proceedings have been overshadowed by an incident of Israel’s lawyer Malcolm Shaw “losing” his papers mid-argument.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, father, husband and a patriot, Mbongeni Ngema.

Ngema was killed in a head-on car accident whilst returning from attending a funeral in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape this evening. He was a passenger in the vehicle.

Ngema was a renowned playwright, actor, choreographer, composer and singer best known for his award-winning works that include Sarafina and Woza Albert. Among his many hit songs is Stimela sa se Zola. An entertaining artist of note, Ngema’s works reflected the spirit of resistance during the Westwood’s of apartheid and liberation struggle.

The Ngema family, colleagues and friends are deeply devastated about Ngema’s passing. The family will share further details about the funeral arrangements in due course.
