Senzo is an evident example of "Youth Making a Change in the community" through his shoe business, recently he has launched a campaign aimed at assisting local learners who need to get their school shoes fixed, and he does it free of charge for the learners.

Regardless of all the adversities that he faces he strives to see a smile in every child face.

On the 29th of this month Senzo alongside other local youth who are eager to make a difference in the community will be coming together at Ama neighbour car wash in Matshelapata section.

🚨 Breaking News 🚨

Yesterday the community woke up to the terrible news, the passing of one of the Pillars in our Community, the principal of Itumeleng Secondary School Mr Skwatcha.

Unfortunately it is not clear as to what led to his ultimate demise. Today (04/08/22) the Ledig Principals Association held a meeting to organise for his memorial and funeral service.

Mr Skwatcha was one of the most loved and respected educators in Ledig, numerous learners and former learners of I.S.S came together to show their love, support and appreciation by Burning candles at the school gate, as to bid a good farewell to the fallen hero.

Mr Skwatcha's impact in the community will not go unnoticed as he was working tirelessly to make I.S.S one of the best schools in MKLM if not the whole province as a whole.

From us we would like to extend our condolences to his family, colleagues and all learners @ I.S.S

🚨Kasi Talent🚨

Meet Mpise "PhatBoi" Phatboibeats Qangasa one of the most talented songwriters and music producers in Ledig. Having started his music journey as early as 2005, he's one of the most popular talented artists in the community.

Some of his music includes the infamous "Back to Kasi" produced by DJ Kops, the 1st hip hop song that made the community to pay attention to kasi hip hop. He is still working very hard on his career and is and has been an inspiration to the upcoming young talent.

Some of the challenges he had to face and is still facing on his journey includes the lack of support from local businesses in terms of always being expected to perform for exposure without getting paid and that makes it hard to improve as an upcoming artist because you need money to grow your profile and to push your career further.

Apart from all adversities along the way his advice to the Young aspiring artists is to stay focused, never loose inspiration, stay motivated and to always keep a positive mind and attitude.

🚨 Breaking News 🚨

It is believed that the roaming lion that escaped from the Pilanesberg National park a few days ago has been captured, although it has not yet been formally confirmed that is not enough to stop the jubilation of the community as they saw pictures of a lion laying at the back of a bakkie with a team of local Shepards and game rangers posing for the caption.

The jubilation comes after the community were terrified to let children out to the streets in fear of falling prey to the big cat.

The community can now go back to living life as they used to without any fear of danger.

It is still advisable to be extremely vigilant at all times as it is believed that a number of wild animals can manage to escape the National park around the Shepard's Tree Gate area.

A thorough inspection of the fence has to be conducted around the Pilanesberg Game park to ensure that this kind of situation doesn't repeat itself in the future.

🚨Cyclone alert🚨

It was reported that during the early hours of 11 march the severe tropical cyclone Gombe made landfall over the coastal area of central Nampula province. Over 18 000 people have been affected, 20 people have been injured and another 12 have died.

This severe cyclone has affected mostly Mozambique and Madagascar, the storm might have little to no effect on South Africa but considering the fact that some of our electricity is generated from Mozambique, we might soon have to endure longer hours of loadshedding due to the strong winds causing damage to the generators as it happened a few years ago.

🚨 Health 🚨

*Hard Water*

Water is an essential part of our lives, we use water for numerous things but most importantly we use water for drinking and cooking, the reason why it is a basic human right to have clean and drinkable water.

In many cases we find our tap water contaminated, some people drink this water as it is and that will cause serious health complications for instance chlorine used at purification plants may cause Asthma symptoms, food allergies, congenital abnormalities- for pregnant women the baby can be born with holes in the heart and lack of brain development.

Boiling tap water is one of the safest ways to remove chlorine but that can be expensive due to high electricity costs, another way to can reduce chlorine from drinking water is through a process known as reverse osmosis filtration, this process is less costly compared to boiling drinking water regularly.

Meet Bonginkosi Nhlapo aka Major Kid a producer, DJ and vocalist from Balfo in Mpumalanga.

His story is unique, at his early 20s this young multitalented enthusiast is already chasing his dreams.

He came to Ledig alongside Slenderdj from JHB, with only one thing in mind, to work hard.

His message to the youth of Ledig is that we should not limit ourselves because of the challenges in our community, that we should not be scared to move out of our village as that might be the reason why some of us feel stagnant without progress, it's more about getting out of our comfort zones.

Major Kid is looking forward to working with local artists and producers.

🚨 Craftsmanship 🚨

Meet Eugene Magadlela a local craftsman who uses animal skins to make a variety of accessories.

Growing up around an experienced craftsman was enough of a blessing for Eugene Magadlela to can grasp the skill to work with animal skins, although it may seem like a walk in the park, his work is full of uncertainty as there are many factors influencing the availablity of his material mostly animal skins as the animals are not deliberately killed for their skins, either they die naturally or get killed by other animals.

That makes the leather scarce and expensive, the art itself is of exquisite taste, due to the limitations of our community he managed to find new markets outside of Ledig and that is working very good for his business.

This days smoking is a part of everyone's life whether you're a smoker or not.

If you are a smoker then you might already be aware of the health risks you pose to your own health and that of others around you as they are secondary smokers to your smoking.

Even with the endless everyday warnings about the dangers of To***co and all the associated chemicals that hazardous to our health "we still light a cigarette to get some fresh air" (or so we think)

It is common knowledge that cigarette smoke contain over 110 cancer causing chemicals including Cynide.
Well now there's a new devil in town "Hookah/Hubbly" well it might not be entirely new but this days it is becoming more popular than ever as it is deemed cool to smoke hubbly/hookah compared to "just smoking ci******es".

With the younger generation becoming more independent, it is of paramount importance to illuminate them of the severe health complications they are set to suffer due to the regular smoking of hookah/hubbly.

First we must all agree that hookah/hubbly makes more smoke than ci******es that makes cigarette warnings a bit of a joke as compared to hookah/hubbly.

Don't forget that ci******es contain over 110 cancer causing chemicals, now it is said that based on scientific research hookah/hubbly contains more levels of arsenic, lead and nickel in extension compared to ci******es, hookah/hubbly smoke contains 36 times more tar and 15 times more carbon monoxide and not to forget ni****ne, making hookah/hubbly more addictive than ci******es.

The charcoal used has 3 times more carbon monoxide, making hubbly 18 times more dangerous than ci******es in terms of carbon monoxide production.

Don't be fooled by the sweet scent of the flavours, smoking hookah/hubbly may lead to cancer of the mouth, lungs and bladder including all obvious health complications caused by smoking e.g TB etc...

Smoking hubbly/hookah is bad for pregnant women, children, asthmatics and people recovering from TB...
