The Cape Whalers Field Band is one of the oldest bands of the Field Band Foundation which started in 1997. the band consist of a Brass ensemble, Dance ensemble, a pit and marimba section and a percussion section.

Oops - We've Done It Again!
The Cape Whalers Field Band has collected another 4 distinctive International Competition Awards. The competition was explosive at Education Africas' 4th Annual International Marimba and Steelpan Festival hosted by St Benedicts College in Bedfordview. The Cape Whalers competed against 71 Ensembles in 7 different competion categories and captured 4 of the 21 Awards from the Small High School and Small Open division categories. The Cape Whalers High School Ensemble also captured the Category Prize for their percormance of Beethovens' Ode To Joy. In Addition 7 Cape Whalers Field Band Members competed with the Heideveld High School Steelpan Band who took home the Top Award, issued by the High Commission of Trinidad and Tabago, for the BEST STEELPAN PERCORMANCE OF THE FESTIVAL.
