The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has opened applications for funding in the 2024 academic year. Applications will close on 31 January 2024.

I urge all students who wish to study in any of our public universities and TVET Colleges to apply timeously and not wait until the last day. Students do not have to wait for their matric results in order to apply for NSFAS.

21/10/2023

We wish to take this moment and congratulate the former national president of SATVETSA, Mr. sphiwe "SK" khumalo upon his graduation.

He has shown to all student leaders that even through the pressure of leading, we must never neglect our studies because before we are leaders, we are students.

I am pleased to announce that 2023 National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funding applications will open on Wednesday, 28 September 2022.

After benchmarking with similar platforms, the NSFAS online application portal has been redesigned to be more user friendly and closer to other platforms that prospective applicants are accustomed to such as your WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.

The application process has been simplified and questions asked are easier to understand.
New channels include a mobile App, USSD and WhatsApp. Through these channels, one can apply for NSFAS funding, track the application status, and cancel applications, amongst others.

Additionally, applicants will be able to pause the process and continue at a later stage without restarting from scratch.

Please visit the NSFAS website at www.nsfas.org.za for more information on the application process and required supporting documents.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
08 September 2022
SATVETSA KZN

"Great leaders do not set out to be a leader. They set out to make a diffrence it is never about the role its always about the goal"

Students have been victims of the scammers for far too long when it comes to their allowances. Celbux have been a very frustrating process students had been complaining n we heard their plea to help find a better system, so for them never to suffer from this frustrating situation as it had been also affecting them even on concentrating on their studies. I mean how can one concentrate when they have lost their last hope of having a meal and comfortable house far from home.

We would like to thank the SATVETSA KZN PEC and the NEC of 2020-2022 for a job well done. The team was led By Siphiwe Khumalo as the President of the NEC along with Ashley Barends as the Secretary General of the NEC, the KZN PEC was led by Wongani Mgwali as the Provincial Chairperson and Nombulelo Gumbi as the Provincial Secretary they have all worked tirelessly along with their team in making sure that NSFAS and the DHET find a better way of dealing with the issue of Celbux.

It our greatest honour to announce that Nsfas has approved and appointed service providers that will distribute allowances for students directly to their bank accounts so for the beneficiaries to be able to manage their finances better. In a matter of 3 weeks service providers will be having discussions with their respected appointed colleges for further preparations of how they will go about with the process of changing from celbux to the accounts.

Colleges will then send comunique to all beneficiaries when the time comes but what i can assure you is the wait is over they have delivered and were thankful .

Thank you once again to the 2020-2022 SATVETSA Team. May you all continue to lead students well and also making sure that students life matter and for making the Tvet sector institutions of Choice.

"Leadership is not a box you check or a single event. Its about an ongoing experience of commitment and service"
