An avid petrolhead who is fascinated by all things cars.
This is the new Toyota GR Yaris that has been enhanced for 2024.
Among other new things, the addition of the autobox will guarantee its appeal to more customers.
Now with 206kW/390Nm, it’s in the same territory as the i30N & WRX, as well as the same field where the formidable Golf 7 R from VW used to live.
It remains a hot hatch of note, and looking at the upgrades, one thing stands out: the Japanese marque looks to have once again done an outstanding job, and once again, it has given us something to look forward to this year.
With a 2.0 BiTDI engine that purrs and strikes the right chords, the VW Amarok is a joy to drive and a breeze to handle.
It’s not just a bakkie, it’s a refined model that has improved on its precursor in so many ways.

🧡The current Subaru WRX isn’t something to sleep on but make it a point that you get the stick-shift and the optional blaring exhaust system. You’ll thank me later🤟🏾🧡.
My chariot for this week is the new Range Rover Sport in D350 Dynamic HSE garb.
Opulence is just another way to best describe the experience and if there’s a car that’s not only has superb on-road demeanour but difficult to fault, this is it.

Named after the famous mountain pass in Italy, the Stelvio from Alfa Romeo has always been an SUV that you buy with your heart. It’s that good.
It has recently been to the surgeon’s room for a nip and tuck and Iam off to Cape Town to sample it for Top Gear Magazine South Africa.
Epic!
Let me be the bearer of bad news!
The Volkswagen Arteon is officially DEAD and VW says it wants to focus on several core models.
This comes after the brand discontinued the Arteon in SA in 2020, just two years after arriving on local shores.
If you get a chance, please ready piece of why the manual transmission must live on.
I know I am such a defender of the stick-shift but this is worth reading…
TopGear South Africa | Why The Manual Transmission Must Live On Why The Manual Transmission Must Live On Despite all the rational reasons for why the manual is facing extinction, the reasons to drive them still exist
Volkswagen SA has confirmed to TopGear SA that this limited-edition model won't hit our showroom floors. As a side note, the locally-built Polo GTI Edition 25 isn't planned for our market either.
TopGear South Africa | Volkswagen Golf R 333 Limited Edition: The Potent Hatch Missing SA Volkswagen Golf R 333 Limited Edition: The Potent Hatch Missing SA For now, SA will have to be satisfied with the standard R.
The VW Golf R 333 has been officially revealed. As predicted by TopGear SA, it features a 2.0 TSI unit with 333 hp (245 kW).
Production is limited to 333 units & the availability in SA is uncertain. This follows the previous exclusion of the 20 Years Edition last year.
This is the Mini SE Convertible that won't be sold in SA.
It's sad really because when the SE hatch launched in SA, it became the most affordable EV to be priced under a mil.
This would have afforded average consumers the same opportunity to own an EV but ke.
Spent the day sampling the funky-looking GWM ORA and TANK 300 vehicles that are earmarked to reach Mzansi soon.
Unfortunately I can only share that due to the embargo that's currently in place. For my driving impressions, you'll have to wait for Top Gear Magazine South Africa next issue.

Game ON!
The new Ford Ranger is out! As stunning as the launch variants in their XLT and Wildtrak garbs look, they boast notable improvements over their forebears, courtesy of plush ride quality and decent interior.
It's gonna be interesting to see how they play out in the sales charts.
Launch piece to follow on Top Gear Magazine South Africa.
Can we take a moment to admire the Mercedes-AMG A35 sedan 🔥 🔥!
Still remains my absolute favorite model in the fold. Merc did the things here... 🤍💙💚.
Proton is back in Mzansi! This here is the new X50 SUV in Executive guise. Many will agree with me that it's really a looker.
Besides that, it has a practical interior, superb build quality, adequate performance and decent handling.
Oh and it has 4 pipes😅😅.

You can look at the Volkswagen Tiguan R as a bigger Golf 8 R on stilettos.
It’s satisfying and it tries to hard to replicate what the Golf 8 R is all about.
It’s all systems go for our annual TopGear SA . There can only be one winner and keep those tabs open for more!

A new lease on life for the Toyota SA 2000GT iconic model.
This is 1 of 351 from the joint venture between Yamaha Motor Corporation and Toyota in 1968.
An extraordinary job well done by the folks at Generation Old School.

The latest Porsche model to do that is the new 911 GT3 RS which lapped the iconic 20.8 km-long Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in 6:49.328 seconds even though the weather wasn't favourable. By comparison, that's 10.6 seconds quicker than the current generation 911 GT3, yet slower than the 6:43 seconds time set by the old GT2 RS.

Boasting a racier appearance, the all-new BMW South Africa M2 has finally debuted as one of the last remaining rear-wheel-drive models left in BMW's M-Division. A worthy driver's car, I reckon.
No electrification here! Just a pure 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 338 kW/550 Nm.
The biggest flex here is the power that's shoved to the rear axle via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic or a 6-speed manual gearbox as an option, purists rejoice.
It is earmarked to land in SA in the second quarter of 2023.
While you can read about it on Top Gear SA via the link; https://bit.ly/3TadAjg, do you still think its design comes straight from Limpopo?
When we had the Suzuki Baleno amd Toyota Starlet at the same time at the office, we knew straightaway that a comparison test had to be done and here it is 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

Here it is, folks. The new Haval that certainly has some irresistible appeal and impressive on-road manners.
Its stance says a lot but is it as dynamic as it looks and fun to drive? My detailed review will follow soon on Top Gear Magazine South Africa.
However, it’s priced at R629,000.
