Thats how she greeted me this morning!
Learning to read is difficult for her, learning Grade 1 sounds in Grade 5, is challenging for her.
But she showed up, and did her best!
Is your child still struggling with letter sounds, and how to use them to read and write?
We can help.

Tuesdays Tip 1
You want to bond with your child?
Read to them.
Babies, toddlers, preschoolers even older children who donโt like reading.
First day back at school, meet and greet with the new Volunteers. I have missed this space.
A lot of parents tell me that they are so worried that there children are not reading on their grade level.
They are looking for answers. โWhy is reading so hard? Why can my child speak so well, but struggle to read? Why is my Grade 2 child suddenly struggling? โ
โMy child is guessing the words. He cannot remember the same word on the next page. Iโm tired of fighting over homework!โ
The reality is, children learn differently. For some, reading is really hard work, and they need extra support. Something the schools donโt always offer.
With our Program, we teach them the skills that may be too difficult for them to master on their own, but have great potential to master with a Reading Tutor.
At Reading Aloud we do assessments to figure out exactly the kind of support each child needs, and then assemble a Reading Intervention according to their individual level.
Give your child the best start. We are doing free Assessments.

How stressed is your household during exam time? What do you do as parent to alleviate the tension and support your child with revision and studying?
Mia is so excited to go to school tomorrow, because she can now read her book!
We used repetition and consistency to help our learners improve their reading performance.
Perhaps your child's results were not quite what you expected?
You know your child, and you know what they are capable of. If they are progressing, thats good!
If they are falling behind, help and support them to get back on track.
This " new normal" is hard on our children.๐
Finger pointing, or having children point to each word as they read is a common practice for emergent readers. Finger pointing helps the reader learn to look carefully at print. It supports two early reading behaviors, directional movement and voice-print match.
Starting off with a bang, most of our learners started with reading lessons as early as the 8th of February 2021.

What we should all strive to do for the next generation
Just a reminder.
Maybe you saw it coming, or maybe you tried your best to keep your child on track, but just could not find a way...
and now we are staring at the end of the school year.
No matter how low your childs grades are, a parents love and guidance will make it easier on them.
Remind your child that you love them no matter what their results are.
As much as we celebrate their achievements and joy, we have to listen to their dissappointment and fears.
It is very important to discuss with your child how and when you will share their results with friends and family.
Geniet julle week vakansie. You girls are the best๐

I am learning this lesson with my students!
Its time for Math Revision.
Research has shown that there is often a connection between reading comprehension and mathematics in areas such as problem solving. ... Reading issues can also affect student understanding of symbols and small/similar words.
To our Reading Aloud Volunteers, please know that we could not do this without your hard work. We are forever thankful for the time you are giving to us.
Being a volunteer is a demanding task, so thank you for contributing so much of your time, energy, and efforts to our cause.
You are doing an excellent job and you are so appreciated.
