HOW SHOULD WE EDUCATE OUR YOUTH?
We refer to our young ones as a lost generation; the Gen Y/Z, millennials and born free’s. Sometimes we complain about their attitude. Other times we are concerned about their lack of values. We question their behaviours and criticize understanding of “freedom”. But, have we raised them right?

What kind of education does an Afrikan young person need today? Is it safe for us to leave education in the hands of school systems? If not, what is the alternative? How do we position the home as a learning institution; when we are stressed just to make ends meet? What are ways we can teach our children effectively?

eBukhosini Solutions welcomes the Afrikan Family to another practical and insightful conversation. We are excited that this dialogue will be facilitated by Ntate Mabule Mokhine; a highly experienced community builder, tutor for learners, group process faciliators, leadership mentor, sustainable living, complex mathematics, self healing and indigenous knowledge. LONG LIVE AFRIKAN YOUTH: As we commemorate The Youth of 1976 Massacre Day, we salute the militant bravery of so many unrecognized Afrikan young people around our continent.

Afrika is now the world’s youngest continent, with 40% of the population being aged 15 years and younger and the median age being around 20 years. And we are getting younger. Also, young Afrikans are the most vulnerable: Unemployment, violence, poverty, unsafe living conditions and bleak futures continue to dominate the life experience of young Afrikans.

48 years ago, more than 600 young Afrikans were killed for revolting against a European regime in Afrika. Today, millions of young Afrikans are fighting systems that sustain Euro-Arab-Asian exploitative dominance. They fight politically and spiritually. Many are disillusioned and already fatigued; the weight of just standing up in this world is heavy. Too many young people are not seen, chosen or prioritized. The generational gaps are bleeding. Young Afrikans do not feel embraced or taken care of. Too often, they are seen as a nuisance and treated as useless. While they, in fact, are our prophets. So: How long shall they kill our prophets…?

If we continue to support the marginalization, voice-gagging, disempowerment and abandonment of young Afrikans – we are also directly complicit in the design of un-emancipated futures. Our youth need revolutionary support, educational attention, political prioritization and spiritual initiation. Being young in Afrika is no longer a situation of becoming the “leaders of tomorrow”. Young Afrikans are our leaders – now.

AFRIKAN FAMILY DIALOGUE: Ebukhosini Solutions invites Afrikan Sisters and Brothers to a dialogue on how to restore inter-generational relationships. A number of external factors contribute to strained relationships: Parents face economic challenges, socio-political pressures and how to respond to cultural expectations. Teenagers are impacted by peer-pressure, shifting societal norms and trying to find their place in the world.

In this session we will seek to understand why it seems so impossible to resolve conflicts between parents and children? What cultural tools can we apply to restore and heal? How does brokenness affect the Afrikan family structure, and what will happen if we continue to not address them?

Our facilitator, Dr Dobijoki Emanuela Bringi, is an experienced community educator, therapist, thought leader, speaker, and founder of BRINGI Consulting Inc.

NOTE: Pre-booking is essential! Send name and number of persons to 074 690 4012 (Wh’App)

The broken relationships between many Afrikan parents and their teenagers/children are alarming. What can we do? Come through and add to this dialogue Ebukhosini Solutions on 26 May!

WHEN THE CIRCLE HAS BROKEN: RESTORING INTER-GENERATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS. The relationship between parents and children has become difficult in many homes. Parents struggle with discipline, communication and respect, while their children feel they are not understood or listened to. These dynamics can cause conflicts in the home. Some parents are overwhelmed by "difficult teenagers" and young people react with aggression towards parents they say are "old-fashioned" and "too strict".

The Afrikan family is supposed to be a tight circle of respectful relations. Bit, what happens when lines are over-stepped and bonds of trust are destroyed? What can we do when the circle is broken?

eBukhosini Solutions welcomes the Afrikan Family to another practical and insightful conversation. This time we are excited to present Dr. Dobijoki Emanuela Bringi. She is a community educator, therapist, thought leader, speaker, and founder of BRINGI Consulting Inc. She combines her personal experiences with her academic and professional background to develop Afrikan-centred leadership programs for diverse audiences including students, educators, and parents. Her mission is to advance Afrikan/Black communities through education and comprehensive community engagement, promoting empowerment and sustainable growth.

In deep respect of your legacy.

HOW CAN WE HEAL GENERATIONAL TRAUMA WITHIN THE FAMILY? In Afrikan culture, the home is seen as an important space for support, safety and building strong relationships. However, over time, the Afrikan home has changed. Today we struggle with generational trauma and issues from the past that continues to break, upset and violate us.

Why does it seem so impossible to resolve conflicts within the Afrikan home? How did we end up with so much unresolved pain? What is trauma counselling in an Afrikan perspective? How can we make the cycles of trauma stop?

Ebukhosini Solutions welcomes the Afrikan Family to another practical and insightful conversation. This time we are honored to present Gogo Keitu Gwangwa, who is a Sangoma and a Clinical Trauma Therapist. Through Zinza Institute she assists people in finding inspiration, balance and solutions to resolve stress, anxiety and mental imbalances. She will share from her practice and motivate us to prioritize healing within the Afrikan Home.

MEN ON THE MOUNTAIN: This weekend, SHABAKA - Men of Afrika took 30 Black Men to the Mountain; To be reminded of their role in the family, community and nation. A journey of returning to the Self which our colonial world has crushed. A reawakening to align the Inner God, to Rise in Honor and to do warrior-work in empowering collaboration with the Afrikan Woman. Re-learning ancient scripts for applications in the now-now.

Ebukhosini Solutions is thankful to Kwa-Khaya Lendaba for hosting Sons of the Soil, Botaki ba Afrika for soul food from heaven and Kuna Imani Arts for spirited photography.

The Afrikan Continent vs the Afrikan Diaspora: The hatred we engage in (from both sides) is designed for our continued disempowerment.

31/03/2024

Afrikan-centered education is not a "flavour". It's a militant counter-strategy. Afrikan parents who are not prepared to make this commitment should just be honest and say: "I want my child to internalize western ideals and always be in conflict with themselves". Simple.

Thankful for the opportunity to share some experiences at the Unlearning Seminar in Soweto yesterday.

The Penuel Show In Conversation with Dr Baba Buntu, Shabaka, Kandake, Pan Africanism 26/03/2024

OUTSIDE THE BOX: Penuel The Black Pen invited me for a sit-down to discuss a number of issues on his platform. Being someone who is not obsessed with fitting into pre-determined ideological boxes, I am always intrigued by Brothers and Sisters who have independent minds. Because I am very aware of the pressure on the Black Being to fit in, conform and join rank. And the repercussions of NOT abiding by The Rules. In a world based on intellectual scams, I see epistemic disobedience as a necessity.

I met Penuel Lungelo Mlotshwa four years ago. We were both invited to an SABC show to discuss views on Inhlawulo (i.e. a cultural acknowledgement of fatherhood, expected to be paid by an unmarried father to the family of his pregnant girlfriend). I was intrigued by our brief off-camera conversations and the differently-thinking mind he exposed. Over the years, we have kept in touch. I invited him on my podcast and we send each other the odd message of encouragement. There are many things I don’t agree with him on, but he has a voice that provokes many people to think deeper. Also, he is pedagogically suave. And that, I will always respect.

In this conversation we explored a thousand and one topics. The box-less, intellectual elasticity and Ntu-ified heart of Pen is admirable. Im thankful for the opportunity.

BIG UP DE YOUT DEM: I am thoroughly blessed to be invited by Warrior Babaluku Uganda and the Bavubuka COMMUNITY to a “Black Elders Speak” event, in recognition of Black History Month tonight, 15 February.

I have had the fortune of getting to know Mwalimu Babaluku Balabeyekkubo – an awarded legend within youth empowerment and Afrikan Hip Hop Practice in Uganda, Canada and internationally. In 2015 he introduced me to the Buvabuka Dynasty; a revolutionary movement of entrepreneurs, activists and change makers – grounded in indigenous hip-hop culture, in Kampala. Since then, we have been in close touch and he has continued to invite me, collaborate and co-create spaces for Black Conscientization – and ensured that Uganda is one of my beloved homes in this world.

Tonight, I am asked to unpack the significance of roots, reconnection and cultural legacy – in the context of Black trauma, Afrikan healing, progress and spirituality. Come join us as we gather around the virtual fire of Afrikan power, to highlight the importance of supporting young Afrikan leaders in facilitating journeys of community healing and transformation, as an integral part of the broader Pan-Afrikan Liberation Struggle.
