Exciting news! Just received word that our small parcels from China, sent last week via air, have been cleared by SA customs and will be ready for collection at our kiosk from tomorrow morning .

Our air freight goods arrived on January 17th, breezed through customs clearance on the 18th, and were released the same day. In a significant move, China has fulfilled its commitment to support South Africa's electricity generation by donating 450 gasoline generators. This generous contribution is part of a broader technical assistance program established during China's head of state visit. Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the Electricity minister, received the initial consignment as the country grapples with intensified blackouts, prompting Eskom to implement stages five and six of load-shedding.

The donation, valued at R167 million, aligns with China's pledge made during President Xi Jinping's state visit in August. Beyond the generators, the aid package includes solar PVs, batteries, inverters, and a grant of approximately R500 million for development assistance.

The timely arrival of the first consignment, featuring 450 gasoline generators, signifies a critical step in addressing South Africa's immediate energy challenges. These generators will be strategically distributed to public service facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and correctional services, serving as backup during instances of load-shedding.

In a statement, the Presidency highlighted the generators' role in alleviating the impacts of load-shedding on essential services, emphasizing their deployment in clinics, schools, and courts. This initiative aligns with the government's ongoing energy action plan, aimed at ultimately ending load-shedding and establishing sustainable energy security.

China's commitment to aiding South Africa in the realm of energy underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing critical challenges. As the generators find their way to various facilities across the country, they represent not just a physical resource but a symbol of collaboration and support in times of need.
