Regrettably, as a result of the impact of Covid-19 on our tourism industry, this years’ edition of Highlights of Somerset West and Surrounds is on hold until further notice. As designer and publisher of this guidebook to our local area, I had hoped to secure sponsorship for future editions, but with local attractions, restaurants and accommodation providers struggling to survive, budgets are severely restricted as uncertainty prevails.

In the meantime, I am focusing on my freelance design business, and welcome any new clients who need design/artwork for items to be printed (brochures, adverts, branding, leaflets, etc.), as well as web & Apps front-end design. STELLENBOSCH HARVEST PARADE
1st February 2020 at 09h00

Join in the fun of celebrating the grape harvest season! The Stellenbosch Harvest Parade will take place on Saturday, 1st February 2020, starting at 09h00 in Alexander Street (outside the Dutch Reformed Church Stellenbosch-West), before turning right onto Bird Street and then left onto Plein Street. Local farm workers parade their colourful flotilla to the sounds of marching bands and minstrels. As the parade ends, the Huisvlyt Craft expo opens at the Stellenbosch Town Hall, where you can enjoy a variety of stalls, local produce, handmade homeware, preserves, bakes and more.

STARLIGHT CLASSICS - BOOK YOUR TICKETS!

Bookings have opened for the annual RMB Starlight Classics concert which takes place at Vergelegen Wine Estate on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th February 2020.

This spectacular evening of music, song and dance by local and international artists is accompanied by the full Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Arrive early on the day for a prime spot on the vast Vergelegen Great Lawn, with a blanket or low chair, food and drinks, to picnic under the stars as this magical evening envelops you.

This guidebook for visitors to our beautiful area is proving popular with local residents as it provides plenty of ideas on how to entertain family and friends coming to stay over the holiday season. It's handy for planning days out to local venues and includes activities for all ages. Over 40 local restaurants are also listed, with opening hours and contact details, making it easier and quicker to find a table over the busy summer season.

Only a few weeks left before this new booklet goes to print!

Highlights of Somerset West and Surrounds is a handy A5 printed booklet for visitors to our beautiful area. It features many of the top attractions, with large clear text describing each venue, contact details and cross-referenced maps. There's also an events listing as well as restaurants and shop listings. The guide will be distributed mainly via the ±200 Guesthouses and B&Bs in the local area.

This is a self-funded project by a local resident and I need a few more PHOTOGRAPHS. If you are a keen photographer with lovely digital shots of local attractions (wine-farms, markets etc) and you're happy to share your photos in exchange for a credit alongside the photo, then please email me (address opposite) so I can send you further info.
