Skills development should not only be a tik box for companies. Companies should actually plan and implement it towards adding value to their industries and the economy. That is where skills will be matched with demand and skills development will be viewed as impactful and dealing with the country's high unemployment rate.
There is reported skills shortage in every sector and the unemployed resources that are unemployable. We therefore need to actually promote necessary skills development suitable for each sector to address the unemployment rate with the HR dept back up through succession planning to address and implement Skills Development as required.
