Common pests in South Africa that are often more prevalent during the autumn season include:
Ants: Ants may become more active in search of food sources before the winter months, potentially invading homes and gardens.
Mosquitoes: While mosquitoes are active throughout the year in many parts of South Africa, they may still be present in autumn, especially in areas with standing water.
Termites: Autumn is a prime time for termite swarms, as they seek new areas to establish colonies.
Rodents: Rats and mice may seek warmth and shelter indoors as temperatures cool, leading to increased sightings and potential infestations.
Fleas and Ticks: These pests can remain active well into autumn, especially if temperatures remain mild.
Flies: Some fly species may become more prevalent in autumn, attracted to decaying organic matter and food sources.
Spiders: While spiders are generally active year-round, they may become more noticeable in autumn as they seek shelter indoors.
Weevils: These pests can infest stored grains and cereals, becoming more problematic as autumn approaches.
Aphids: These sap-sucking insects may still be active in autumn, particularly on garden plants and crops.
Remember, pest activity can vary depending on factors such as geographic location and local climate conditions. It's essential to take preventive measures and, if necessary, seek professional pest control services to manage infestations effectively.
Now you know why they sit around for a bit - while flies aren't exactly fussy, they do have preferences is taste. Dont let them "sit around" - what comes next is a bit more disturbing! Stay tuned.

Despite these "disabilities", ants are very effective communicators.
They also use chemical signals, called pheremones, to communicate with each other. They use this to send out warnings when there is danger, lead other ants to food sources, and use them to attract a mate!
How do we keep your furkids safe?
Using pesticides in correct quantities, and correct places makes for an overall safer experience for your furkids. When dry, our insecticides post no threat to your cherished furchildren, only the insects treated.
How can you help?
Keep furkids away from the technicians during application, and out of treated areas until solutions have dried, to ensure they do not lick the wet solutions.
What essential oils can you use to repel insects?
Scents like Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemongrass, and Tea Tree oil are all natural scents that bugs avoid.
In particular, scents like Peppermint and Eucalyptus have very strong aromatic properties that repel bugs.
This is due to the high level of menthol and cineole in these plants.
