Re: NSFAS UPDATE
This briefing follows after an extended meeting between NSFAS, NEC and PEC chairpersons yesterday.
NSFAS will continue making 2021 outstanding payments until today as they have started the previous week.
Appeals are currently being finalized by NSFAS, students are urged to frequently check their mynsfas for an update.
2022 allowances are currently being processed as well and will start reflecting by this afternoon because NSFAS is experiencing some technical errors.
Starting from Thursday, 2nd June 2022, payments for 2020 outstanding allowances will be made.
If on your NSFAS status it shows "Course code error" you are advise to go to your Financial Aid office to get assistance or report it to an SRC member on campus to get assistance.
SRC members are urged to speak to their senior Financial Aid officers to ensure that their is compliance where results need to be uploaded as well as proof of registration.

Date: 28 April 2022
The NEC of SATVETSA took an initiative of having a meeting on the 26th of April 2022 with NSFAS TVET Branch Official to get answers in terms of students allowances that are affecting the core business which is teaching and learning.
The NEC outlined the issues around NSFAS allowances and addressed them to the Official who was present and the response that the NEC received on issues raised were:
Appeals of 2022:
11236 Appeal students that are funded.
12900 Appeal students that are currently not funded due to no progression on previous level of study and some due to no results received from institutions.
OUTSTANDING ALLOWANCES:
Outstanding allowances of 2021 may be paid mid May as per agreement.
Some institutions didn't load all the registration data for 2021 and that affects payments to students.
STATUSES:
NSFAS is currently experiencing a technical problem hence statuses can't change yet institutions have loaded registration data and NSFAS has picked up that some institutions load registration data of students who don't qualify for funding.
PAYMENTS:
The reason why most students didn't receive their allowances is because of the technical problems that NSFAS is currently experiencing and they then took a decision of making manual payments which the NEC hopes that payments will reflect to students tomorrow.
NB!!! The technical problem also affects the issue of Course code errors which were fixed by institutions.
The end.
