The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has announced the introduction of an online traveller declaration system to take effect, first at OR Tambo during November, and then to be rolled out to all international airports during the first quarter of 2023.

The new traveller declaration process is an online system that collects travel information and returns a traveller pass via email. Upon arrival in South Africa, there will be instructions at the airports that will guide and inform travellers what to do next,” says SARS’ statement.

SARS has not supplied the URL nor addressed any queries about the system.

Air Mauritius is set to return to Cape Town on November 16, according to Travel News.

The twice-weekly flights between the island and CPT will be direct and non-stop (not linked to the JNB flights).

The flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, using the airline’s A350-900 aircraft, with 28 seats in business and 298 in economy class.

Fantastic news. As of 1st November Qantas will be flying direct flights to Perth out of Johannesburg and 28 October daily flights to Sydney from Johannesburg.

FlySafair, South Africa’s low-cost airline, is introducing a new route between Johannesburg and Bloemfontein from September 16.

The airline took to social media to break the news of the new twice-weekly service, with the flights scheduled for Fridays and Sundays.

The flight schedule is as follows:

Flight FA 846 departs JNB at 16h35 and arrives in BFN at 17h35
Flight FA 847 departs BFN at 18h10 and arrives in JNB at 19h00

Flights are now open for booking and the FlySafair website is currently selling tickets for September and October.

One-way tickets are being sold for R930, including taxes.

A combination of B737-400 and B737-800 aircraft will be used.
