From the beginning the student learns by expert instruction gained by years of experience.
Like primary school 7 grades they start with a junior Traditional Karate Syllabus as taught in Japanese islands for three past 100 years. The founder was a school teacher and was brought to Mainland Japan by the Emperor after seeing a demonstration in Okinawa. From there it was developed to high school level Like 7 grades progress in the senior Traditional Karate Syllabus. From there it moves to b the University level. The top University in Tokyo produced the most successful students. My instruct Hidetaka Nishiyama was one of these Seniors forming JKA In 1949.

They have built the HISTORY of Shotokan JKA Karate from 1983
Going back in time to 1979 residing in USA whilst there training with the greatest Shotokan JKA Kaate Masters in the world in New York for 1 year with Sensei Mori and Los Angeles 3 years with Sensei Nishiyama / Co founder of JKA 1949. Late 1983 Seisei Chris and Alta Mance moved back to South Africa and settled in Port Elizabeth . 1988 the Mance Karate Centre was built in Mount Pleasant at 12 Phyllis Road and had been serving the Port Elizabeth now Gqeberha community for 36 years.
Teaching children from 5years in a proffessional enviroment and training Centre Sensei Alta 5th Dan ITKF Shotokan with USA Life Coach USA and Sensei Chris 8th Dan ITKF 7th Dan JKA Shotokan. Meeting all RSA Qualifications of International Coach , and NOSA First Aid.

From four years old, our Traditional Shotokan Karate is full of self defence techniques,. Here is a defense against a attack from behind.

The first lesson we teach at Karate is to stand upright with no wiggles or giggles.
Self-control is the first goal of Karate! Self-control ( the ability to control one's
emotions and behavior in the face of temptations and impulses).
There is not a sport more equip to teach this valuable skill than karate, at a tournament, in a kumite ( sparring )match and excepting the fact that there will be disappointments and losses.
