Slutwalk is for everyone who believes that NOBODY deserves to be r***d. Stop victim blaming and support survivors! https://twitter.com/Slutwalkjhb2
On the 24th January 2011 a representative of the Toronto Police said , “ Women should avoid dressing like s***s in order not to be victimised” This level of victim blaming, from the very organisations charged with protecting the public, inspired global outrage. Slutwalk started in Canada and has since grown to include more than 100 cities around the world. You don’t have to identify with or even
approve of the word “slut” to support this movement. It is for every human being who believes that NOBODY deserves to be r***d, regardless of age, gender, s*xual orientation or any other excuse that rapists use to justify their crimes
The organizers of Slutwalk Johannesburg see Slutwalk as an international brand which can help raise awareness around a number of s*xual assault issues such as victim-blaming,corrective r**e, gender violence by questioning the acceptance of a "r**e culture". While reclaiming the word slt might have been the primary focus of the original Toronto Slutwalk,we believe that the issue of s*xual abuse in any form is a far more urgent issue in South Africa at the moment. This is not just a women’s issue or a feminist march. Society as whole is responsible for creating a culture in which r**e has been tolerated for too long. We must drive the change together, men, women and children. Slutwalk Johannesburg Participant Terms and Conditions
