Working on this series has taught me to learn and unlearn . Tighten up and loosen up… what do I mean ? Well formulate structure establish it then dismantle that which no longer is needed as the substructure can be more subdued. Here we go….. - -

There is more peace in my heart today having completed this artwork . Much more to learn but I am getting there . Undulations of colour and purposeful use of mark making has been the exercise to mention a few objectives.

“ Heart of Gold “ oils on panel

This is the culmination of months of being silent , rather introspective and ponderously re educating myself . There is joy knowing I did my absolute best with all that I am doing now with this series . And God will open the right doors to show this work Amen .

Many don’t know but I am a self taught painter and didn’t study fine arts but industrial design. However this has made my drive to scrutinise technique , history of art and the culture of art in a different light .

Finally there is a peace starting loom …. A minuscule glimmer of joy as I keep unearthing myself and this realm called Art. #.

Often especially with oils I am asked Gosh John that looks finished ? Another layer I mean really now ? When is it done in you mind John??

When I can smell the rain and taste the air ….: then it’s done …:

Personally the most cathartic artwork always looks so simple. Everything is in its place and tranquility reigns with each brushstroke .

Yet the chaos that was navigated to arrive here was monumental. The prayers , the silent moments of introspection and the frustrations quench all had its moments.

Honesty , the journey carried such weight and brought such joy. The release to see the end product humbles me with a smile know God held me close with each stroke.

Art truly is therapeutic and has aligned intrinsic core values as I circumspectly chip away at the block.

May it bring joy to the owner one day like it has me.

Our Lord be praised for another international sale .

It humbles me to see God’s hand of blessing in my life as He carried my through the process for this specific church. May Jesus be praised as folks ponder looking at the art. I am eternally grateful to see His loving kindness. Personally there is no other door , no other way I will glorify and no other light for me to see but the light of Jesus . The sole expression of divine love for the world.

You have to marvel at the strength of some and I mean some. The groundbreaker , the solitary spearheaders , the gladiators and pioneers . Seeking no validation or the populous proverbial pat on the back.

Some are meant to walk with you … but like the space shuttle , sections need to fall off that’s reached there function and futile to your destination. Just like you may have been the same can be said so take heart.

Be brave and take heart the victory awaits .

Houses represent a sanctuary of solas , a nest for the chicks and fire for the soul. This metaphorical can be equated to some folks who hold the same capacity. A safe place to rest in , make a dwelling place with no hidden agenda but to be a refuge.

The world is a complex metropolis of emotions and misguided notions . What a privilege to have these “Homes” amongst us and what an honour if you are a “ Home “ to someone.

The wonderful aspect of creativity is the construct of narrative and the directing the viewer through the artwork. Both in thought and visually.

Minuscule details , strokes , optical mixing , gradients and contrasts all elevate the set goal.
One is never truly happy but there is a peace about the art that is my guide on when to stop.
