Every year at the Mont-Aux-Sources Challenge, we offer two unique distance options. Here’s how the 50km route works 🏃

50km route – You will start your run in the picturesque Mahai Campsite winding past Gudu Bush, and leading up to Witsieshoek Resort. Catch a glimpse of the majestic Bearded vulture as you traverse the route. Recharge at Witsieshoek with a refreshing water table before tackling a mix of dirt and paved roads.

At Sentinel Car Park, you will refuel and meet professional guides for the thrilling ascent up the Chain Ladders, offering breathtaking views along the way. Take a moment to admire the scenery before reaching the world's highest waterfall. Descend through the gully with expert assistance, possibly encountering snow. Stock up at Sentinel Car Park for the final descent to Mahai Campsite.

DID YOU KNOW that the Mont-Aux-Sources Challenge falls on the same day as International Vulture Awareness Day this year? 🦅

This special event raises funds for the critical work done by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife to protect, monitor and conserve this endangered species. Currently, the African sub-species of Bearded Vultures (Gypaetus barbatus meridionalis) faces a severe population decline, with only 100 breeding pairs and a total of 320 birds left in the wild. The main threats facing the population include persecution for use in traditional medicine, accidental collisions with powerlines and electrocution on cables.
