When I went for my first HIV test back in 2000 I was not sick, it was out of curiosity because I was young then and was sure that I was clean. I went to do the test at the doctor as I was on my mother's medical aid. Back then there were no rapid tests, so I had to wait for a week or 2 to get the results.
I went to the doctor again on my appointmet day to get the results, then boom the doctor told me I am positive and gave me an envelope with my results that was it. There was no counseling. Shocked as I was looking at him with disbelief, he asked me what did I expect as I was having unprotected s*x and I went home.
On my way home, I met my friend on the road, I showed her the results and that was the last person I showed and last time I spoke about it but I dont remember what it did with the envelope with the results after that. My life went on as usual as if nothing happened.
