13 year old Peanut came to see Dr Geoff van Welie for a very large mass on her
chest that had grown exponentially in the last year. She had been previously
seen elsewhere over the last few years where it was decided to not do surgery
due to her age.
Peanut was recently moved to EL where her owner decided that no matter the
risk, the mass needed to be removed to better her quality of life. Although very
risky, Peanut is a fighter. When she was a puppy she was rescued from a
situation where she was burnt for “fun”.
Peanut underwent a long, successful surgery where Dr Geoff van Welie
surgically removed the very large mass from her chest, as well as an additional
mass from her side and she had a dental done.
Peanut is now in recovery and will be living way more comfortably in her
retirement.❤️🐾

Lady’s Amazing Story
Whilst on one of her regular walks (on lead), Lady was attacked by a Bullmastiff.
Her dad bravely intervened and saved her, but was unfortunately bitten on his arms during the rescue.
Lady sustained severe damage to her throat, and was rushed to the emergency vet.
A few days later Lady was referred to us, as food was draining out from under her bandaged neck wounds.
Dr van Welie examined Lady and discovered that Lady had a ruptured oesophagus.
Lady went into surgery to repair her damaged oesophagus. A stomach tube was placed to help
identify the damaged areas.
After the surgery, a liquid diet containing barium (a substance that is visible on X-Rays) was placed down her oesophagus, and X-Rays
were taken to check for any leakage. Luckily there was none.
Lady stayed with us in the hospital for monitoring, and finally (after 10 days) she was able to go home with a neck and chest bandage.
Lady was only home for 2 days when she developed a cough. She had to go back in for surgery to repair
necrotic skin around her neck, as well as to treat her dental disease that was also contributing to the cough.
While stitching, Dr van Welie discovered damage to the hyoid bone which resulted in gagging when swallowing.
Lady was recovering well, but then just over a month later while happily playing outside, she strained her cruciate ligament.
She was put on pain(analgesic) and anti-inflammatory medication.
A few weeks later, Lady chased after a cat and completely ruptured her cruciate ligament. She had to undergo ANOTHER surgery to repair the ligament.
She bounced back very quickly after that, and is currently happy to run to anybody who will accept her love and kisses.
Lady is a wonderful example of never letting what life throws at you, get you down

Frank had been missing for 5 days when he was amazingly found last night 🥰 He was brought in after-hours to see Dr von Delft, where he was examined and treated. He had a facial laceration and damaged teeth. Today Frank had surgery where his laceration was debrided and stitched, and his damaged teeth were extracted. This afternoon Frank was super happy to be reunited with his mom and dad 🐶 We are so incredibly happy with this story’s joyous outcome 🐾💕
