What does it mean to be a KSA kitchen member?

It means that the company has been trading stably for a minimum of three years
That the company has a showroom showing examples of the workmanship you can expect in your home
That the company takes full responsibility for the design, manufacture and installation of your work even if parts of this are outsourced
That the company is legally registered and compliant
They offer a minimum of a one-year guarantee on their workmanship excluding wear and tear and abuse.

Most importantly it means that that company has made a choice to held accountable for its workmanship and business ethics by the KSA and to offer you, its customer, free access to mediation, advice and guidance should you be dissatisfied with their work.

Recently completed this private dwelling in Stellenbosch. 5 panel solid oak shaker doors with oak veneer side panels finished in monocoat mist oil. Glass framed doors by Vogue for that special touch. We recently finished this project in Jongensfontein and what a privilege it was. Our client knew exactly what she wanted and that made our work easy.😄 Such a pleasure to work with like minded people that are open for suggestions. In these tough times we have seen a massive increase in consumers calling us for advice and assistance when a kitchen renovation has gone pear shaped. It is vital that you remember that we can only really assist in these cases if the company is a KSA member. Members are bound to comply with our ruling in the event of a dispute and there are repercussions in place should they fail to do so. Our help with a non-member is legally limited to a little advice and guiding you to alternative channels of recourse like legal action, the Consumer Protector or the media.

This is why you should always check if the company you are wanting to appoint is a KSA member. At least this way you can rest assured that if things don’t go to plan you know you have someone to go to.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking at how to care for the various materials and finishes in the kitchen to help you keep your kitchen looking its best.

We start with melamine :
General Cleaning - Using a mild household cleaner wipe down the door or panel with a soft cloth taking care not to rub too hard. Use a soft dry cloth so as not to leave any residue on the door or panel. You may also use Methylated Spirit on a soft cloth, using a circular cleaning motion. Thoroughly clean the area with a damp cloth (water and mild detergent only) to remove any residual Methylated Spirits. Always ensure that you refer to the recommendations provided by the cleaning product manufacturer before use.

To ensure that your material warranty will not be void, DO NOT use any of the following: Commercial Cleaning Products, Abrasive Cleaners, Scouring Pads or Abrasive Papers, Acids and Alkalis, Solvents, Thinners, Turpentine (Turps), Ammonia, Bleach, Acetone, or any other cleaning agents containing organic solvents or the above mentioned products. Avoid contact with sharp instruments.

The use of a cooker hood, or extractor, whenever cooking, is advised. This will help avoid steam and cooking oil vapors from adversely effecting surfaces.

Exposure to excessive water or standing water will cause damage to the substrate and cause the door or panel to ‘blow’ and warp. Constant exposure to direct sunlight can alter the colour of the melamine over time.
