Our Story
Value ed is a Section 21 non-profit organisation that was founded by Vikela Rankin in 2010.
Vikela Rankin, a corporate industry leader, recognised early in his career that not everyone had the advantages of positive role models. A great believer in mentorship, he found that the youth he was working with, needed foundational help in building core values to balance leadership potential and technical skills.
With the knowledge that leadership will come from the youth, Vikela sought to build a program that strives to develop leadership that is community based, that will affect family, friends and peers within organisations.
The challenge in our schools and tertiary institutions is that some of our learners are not equipped enough to take a central part in their own learning process. It is therefore evident that these learners need consistent support. Intervention is critical and can serve as a catalyst to stop learners from being discouraged and losing confidence. Youth and learners also need to be provided with the tools that enable them to understand their career path.
