We are lucky to have Blacktips every dive on . They are courious, playfull and very fun to dive with.
Blacktip Sharks May Not Be As Picky Eaters As Previously Thought It was previously thought that blacktip shark (Carcharhinus limbatus) in the Gulf of Mexico were picky eaters due to Clupeids and Sciaenids making up over half (69%, to be exact) of their diets in older studies. But a new study shows their diets are more diverse than expected.

South Africa is a paradise for shark lovers, we are lucky to have 117 species of sharks. We don't see all of them on a dive, but many we do πππ¦π₯°
Those are the most common sharks we see in and but we do have other species less commun on a dive as Reef and oceanic Whitetip, Blue Shark.
Meet our sharks.
South Africa is a βshark hotspotβ with over 100 species of shark present in our waters. The reason for that is The Mozambican current, that flows down the eastern side of South Africa, brings a warm and rich in nutrients current down this coastline and therefore makes it the perfect environment for an abundance of wildlife and to spot great many species of sharks.
Kwazulu natal, on the east coast, has the 2 most popular shark diving sites in South Africa: Protea Banks and Aliwal Shoal.
The most common species of sharks we encounter during our dives depending on the season are:
From June to December: Ragged-tooth sharks, also known as grey nurse sharks and as sand tiger shark.
From December to may: Tiger Sharks
From December to june: Scalloped Hammerhead and Great Hammerhead sharks
All year around: Blacktip and Whitetip Sharks, Bull (Zambezi) Sharks.
Other species can be seen sporadically any time of the year: Great white sharks, Dusky and Copper sharks.
