Today I take you with me in the Caitlins, a place where to find amazing waterfalls and rain forest, but every forest in New Zealand is amazing. I don’t know what is going on there but you will be able to absorb all the good energy just by getting inside. I can’t wait to go back in New Zealand.

It was on a rainy day, early in the morning.
I focus stacked 5 images since I was very close from the ground and I wanted to capture every details of this scene.

"The Reverse S"

The leading line makes a reverse S. Let your eyes follow the path from the flowers to the rock formations and then to the Milky Way.

After trying different locations the days before this one, to have a rare composition that didn't work exactly how I wanted, I hiked about 16km to get this shot. I spent so many hours researching on the map to find a rare location, that will also match with a clear sky, to finally stop on this one. Maybe someone has a picture from this place, but I haven't seen any, so it was a Go!

I loaded up my backpack for Sunset and Milky Way, with enough food/water, layers and my emergency kit to sleep outside. I decided to sacrifice the tent, mattress and sleeping bag, gets a little bit cold and I know I can handle it easily until -5c with my setup. I had to go as lightweight as possible I could, because an injury on my right ankle from years ago came back. I had an amazing physio who helped me to get back on track ASAP, cheers to her!

When I found the spot, I left my backpack and ran to the summit for the sunset. What a mistake haha because I ran back to my backpack (1.5km down) and ran again (1.5km up) to the summit. I didn't expect the light to be amazing that day.

Right after the sunset, I went back to the location, I almost got lost, the trail was not well visible in the dark and I didn't want to use my brighter headlamp (I always carry 2 headlamps and an extra set of batteries with me. Maybe overkill but if I fall and lose my headlamp, at least there is another one in the backpack). I wanted to save the batteries to go back down because it i not allowed to camp there. I only saw that at the beginning of the trail, but still carried my gear. We never know, better be prepared than sorry!

----

How I took the image:

- Foreground: Single shot without tripod during golden hour, just before running for a second time to the summit. I was lucky, no light at all on that side of the mountain. Otherwise, I would have to skip the sunset and wait for the blue hour. So no time to waste, I had to run for the sunset :P

- Sky: Multiple images taken in portrait mode and merged as a panorama to cover all the foreground. I use my tripod at the exact same location, I left my tripod there when I took the foreground to make sure it will all be 100%, and also ready for the long exposure.

One day someone asked me : “Jam, how do you describe your paradise ? “

I started laughing and I answered : “Close your eyes, take a deep breath and now imaging being at the top of a mountain 🏔️ , and everything you see around it’s only mountains and snow ❄️ , it’s cold and you are above clouds ☁️ ! Welcome to my paradise island”

So tell me, if you have to pick one place and make it your paradise, how do you see it ? Go for gold haha, imagination has no limit 🤟😃

Where the air is fresh and the fog dances around the forest is here where your soul will find the deepest inspiration.

Is there anything more breathtaking than witnessing an enchanting mountain sunset?

Henry Ward Beecher said, "Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn".

An other exceptional and beautiful photo from Jamil Slim Photography🥰

Embrace the serenity of a calm mountain. Leonardo Da Vinci once stated, "Nature is the source of all true knowledge." The peace offered by a solitary tree beside a tranquil lake is nature's masterpiece, a real-life painting speaking to us in whispers of the wind. Each scenic fragment is a curated work of art, adding aesthetic value to our surroundings. Remember every place you visit, every scene you admire!

"Treeline" (30rd June)

This is why I love and I am passionate about what I do. Even on a well known place, I haven’t seen one taking a picture of that root like that. Most of people go for classic and same shot than everyone is taking. I like to be different and let my inspiration and artistic side talk, act and create different images.

Can you recall a time when you stood at the edge of a serene lake, cocooned by a whispering forest, staring into calm, reflective waters? Looking at nature's most elegant mirror, a breathtaking spectacle that's hard to forget. Reflections on a lake aren't just reflections, they're an echo of nature's beauty, a bridge connecting reality and fantasy, a visual symphony of peace and tranquillity. Hope you will enjoy it, and have an amazing Monday or Sunday depending on where you are.

Henry Thoreau once said, "We need the tonic of wildness." In our fast-paced world, it's easy to lose touch with the serenity that nature provides

My website is coming back soon online. It will be a nice opportunity to surround yourself with the peacefulness that nature can bring you directly in the comfort of your home! I promise you, no one else captured the same images yet, and even if it happens in the future, it will never match the atmosphere, which makes everything so unique.

Stay tuned ;)

"The Symphony of Nature"

I wrote this small poem, to explain my photograph. If you look in the middle you can see the form of an audio wave. The reason, I called it: "The Symphony of Nature"

"On this calm morning, the mountains are awake and hiding behind clouds
The wind, travelling in the valley caresses the trees...
A shy light from the sky put the spotlight on them,
And the peaceful lake is acting like a mirror to show the perfection of this beauty.
Together, they started singing The Symphony of Nature"
-- Jamil Slim

Now, take your time, look at the image and let all your senses travel between my words and the picture. You will feel so peaceful.

Have a good day or evening, or night, my friends!
