RE FORM defines Black Coffee’s narrative as a continuum from one collection to the next.
Garments transcend mere fashion pieces and become part of the wearer’s collection, evolving from year to year. Trend-driven seasonality has been discarded in favour of acquiring collectors’ pieces.
Colour blocking with small details reminiscent of flags or quilts. The process of deconstruction and reconstruction in the design process underpins many of the looks.
The inspiration manifests inconspicuously. Although the references may seem divergent, they are all present: 18th-century frescoes and mosaics, Hokusai block prints, and Sashiko mending. The mission is always to fuse these varying influences together to create a vision that is harmonious and ultimately new.
