Opening Exhibition!!!!🎨🎨🎨
What does portrait mean to you? Portraits are artistic representations of people, however, they could have different meanings for different people. Let’s celebrate beautiful portraits from different visual art disciplines.
"Nothing but portrait" is our theme for this exhibition, we are showcasing different portraits created from different art media, from traditional oil painting to photography, drawing, sculpture, and even mixed media. Portraits can show part figures usually showing the sitter’s head and shoulders, but they can also depict the whole figure. They can also illustrate more than one person, in a group portrait.
On our opening evening, expect purely art performances such as music, poetry, dance, and more, while engaging with different portraits and their creators. We are creating an experience with the most celebrated culture of Cape Town First Thursdays for art lovers and art collectors to celebrate art for the sake of art.

Meet- Lelethu Fundakubi a visual artist from Mfuleni in Cape Town. She mainly focuses on monochromatic portraits, confident African women , natural hair-dos, and everyday scenes.
Lelethu’s work is inspired by the women who raised her. She believes women should be praised not only for their beautiful bodies but also for their willingness to survive the hardships and obstacles they face (including Gender-Based violence).
She works with black portraits because she believes black is the strongest color of the neutral colors and that it shows elegance, power, and formality. She also works with other colors if she feels the need to. The different clues between the foreground and the background are to create contrast and mood.
