The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (I.T.C.Z.) is oscillating about the southern borders of Zambia leading to mainly cloudy weather conditions with rain and thunder over most parts of the Country.

*Western, Northwestern, Copperbelt, Muchinga and Eastern Provinces:* Mainly cloudy, slightly windy and mild with rain and occasional thunder.
*Luapula, Northern, Central, Lusaka and Southern Provinces:* Mainly cloudy, slightly windy and mild with isolated rainfall activities.
*FORECAST FOR TOMORROW: FRIDAY (12/01/2024)*
*Western, Northwestern, Copperbelt, Muchinga and Eastern Provinces:*
*Morning:* Mainly cloudy, slightly windy and mild to warm with rain and occasional thunder. Minimum temperature will be in the range of 16°C and 22°C.
*Afternoon:* Cloudy skies, slightly windy and mild to warm with rain and thundershowers. Maximum temperature will range between 22°C and 32°C.
*Evening:* Mainly cloudy, slightly windy and mild with isolated rain.
*Luapula, Northern, Central, Lusaka and Southern Provinces:*
*Morning:* Mainly cloudy, slightly windy and mild to warm with isolated rain and occasional thunder. Minimum temperature will be in the range of 14°C and 20°C.
*Afternoon:* Mainly cloudy skies, slightly windy and warm with rain and thundershowers. Maximum temperature will range between 21°C and 30°C.
*Evening:* Mainly cloudy, slightly windy and warm with isolated rain and thunder.

*IMPACT:* High probability of flash floods and water logging during heavy rains especially over the southern parts of Shang’ombo, Sioma and surrounding areas.

*OUTLOOK TO SATURDAY (13/01/2024)*
Widespread rainfall activities expected over most parts of the Country.

Reopening of colleges postponed

WATOPA PONTOON AND A TAXI 🚕 SINK IN THE KABOMPO RIVER OF LUKULU DISTRICT

The Watopa Pontoon On The Kabompo River In Lukulu District Of Western Province Has Sunk Together With A Taxi 🚕 Belonging To Mr Alex Chizhika In The Locality.

This Was After The Pontoon Was Made To Ferry The Taxi 🚕 & A Container Truck🚛 Laden With Goods At The Same Time.

When The Truck 🚛 Got Into The Pontoon After The Taxi, The Pontoon Started Going Down In Water Tilting To The Side Of The Truck Due To Heavy Weight.

This Situation Forced The Driver Of The Truck To Reverse To The River Bank As The Pontoon Was Already Sinking.

This Move Seemed Late As The Pontoon & The Taxi Were Already Slowly Going Down.

Efforts To Get The Pontoon & The Taxi Are Still To Be Figured Out.

This Pontoon Is The Only One That Ferries Vehicles & People From Lukulu District Of Western Province To Kabompo District Of North Western Province.

At The Moment Vehicles On Both Sides Are Stuck As They Cannot Cross.

And Kaluwawa Ward Councilor Honourable Chidiman'a Sitali Has Described The Incident As Unfortunate & Has Called On Government To Quickly Put Up A Modern Bridge As The Pontoon Has A History Of Accidents.

OUTBREAK OF CHOLERA FORCES SCHOOLS TO REMAIN CLOSED FOR THREE WEEKS

Government has announced that all public, private, aided and community learning institutions (early childhood education (ECE) centres, primary and secondary schools remain closed for a further three weeks after the official opening date of 8th january, 2024 due to the outbreak of Cholera.

Education Minister Hon Douglas Syakalima says the grace period which was earlier given to grades eight and ten learners has now been overtaken and all learners are expected to open on 29th January, 2024.

Hon Syakalima says in order to catch up on the time lost, the first term holidays will only run for one week instead of four weeks; implying that schools will close for term one on 26th April instead of 5th April, 2024, and open for term two as scheduled on 6th May, 2024.
