The African girl child is an endangered species, if ever she could be called thus. The African girl child faces enemies, and many times, those enemies are the people who are supposed to be her protectors, providers, and parents. She is viewed as a commodity to be traded for the household's economic and social well-being, no different from the household's livestock outside in the barns.

Why have we ALL chosen to remain quiet, refused to hear her cries, as she is r***d and battered in the night, her childhood being robbed of her, by a sadist who claims to have paid a brides price for her?

Our silence to the plight of the African girl child is complicit to everything wrong being inflicted on her innocence. We are ALL guilty!

Let us not allow anyone to hide behind our traditions in justifying this hell-deserving wickedness. If a tradition is non-supportive to the girl child living in a safe environment, that tradition must be done away with and criminalised and condemned by society.
