NK PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF THE LATTER-DAY SAINTS FOR SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE AT MAKENI GRZ SCHOOL
......Our children used to cover 12 Km going to Bayuni Combined School to access secondary education.
By Chrispine Chambwa - On Sat, 18th March - 2023 ( Chilanga News Agency)
CHILONGOLO Ward councillor, Nicholas Katampi, has thanked The Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter - day Saints for building school infrastructure, and donating desks to Makeni GRZ School.
And The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Later-days Saints Stake President, Blessings Mushala, has said that their church is grateful to the government for allowing it to partner with the government in the building of school infrastructure.
Speaking at a handover ceremony of classroom blocks at Makeni GRZ, Friday, Katampi, who is fondly known as NK, said that the school infrastructure which The Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter-day Saints has built will now enable the school to provide secondary education to the children who have over the years been covering a distance of over 12 Kilometers (Km) to access secondary education at Bayuni Combined School.
He said the newly built school infrastructure will encourage better attendance by the learners and greatly motivate the teachers - a move he said will result in good school outcomes.
"The residents of Chilongolo ward have had challenges for their children to achieve good academic results at this school due to inadequate school infrastructure and housing units for the teachers. However, with these four 1x3 classroom blocks, an ablution block, one semi detached teacher's house, and the donation of 500 desks, all courtesy of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter-day Saints, our children will no longer cover the 12 km going to Bayuni Combined School which is practically in Kanyama constituency", said Katampi. "I would like to pay tribute to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter-day Saints for this gesture as it will allow the girl and boy child access free secondary education from within the ward. I would also want to make mention that we are pleased with this gesture as it is in line with the New Dawn Government policy on providing free education to the vulnerable children".
And The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints Stake President, Blessings Mushala, has said that their church is grateful to the government for allowing it to partner with the government in the building of school infrastructure, an ablution block, a staff house and as well as donating school desks.
The Stake President for Lusaka, who was accompanied by the First Counselor, Lusaka Stake, Bishop Mwamba Phil Kapema, further appealed to the learners and the community to use the facilities to their advantage in obtaining a good education.
"In an effort to follow the Jesus' commandments on loving our neighbors as stated in the scriptures, we as a church are grateful to partner with the government to build school infrastructure such as these classroom blocks, an ablution block staff housing as well as providing desks. This isn't the first project we've partnered in with the Ministry of Education. We also hope that it will not be the last project and that there will be future opportunities to partner in such great causes", said the Stake President. "To the students and the community, may you use these facilities to your advantage in obtaining a good education. I have seen great talents today from the learners and would like to predict NOT to prophesy that indeed the great leaders of tomorrow will pass through these classrooms to become Members of Parliament, directors in both public and private institutions, and even presidents of this country".
The handover ceremony was attended by Ms Chuulu, who represented the Minister of Education, some Ministry of Education officials, Chilanga MP, Sipho HLAZO, Chilanga District Commissioner, David Shelen, Chilanga Town Council deputy council chairperson, Misheck Mweemba, Chilongolo WDC chairperson, Mukela Sibeta, New Farms ward councilor, Prince Mweemba, Mwembeshi ward councillor, Anold Dube, Mondengwa ward councillor, Jabulani Mutema, Mt. Makulu ward councillor, Monde Kayenge, and Kalundu ward councillor, Trust Mutuba.
Others were the UPND Chilanga District Chairperson, Chinyama Chisambwe, Chilanga constituency deputy chairperson, Duncan Mudenda, and Chilanga constituency IPS, Aaron Ndiwa among others.
The project to build four 1x3 classroom blocks, an ablution block, a staff house and the donation of 500 desks was born through the interaction among PTA, WDC, the councillor, the Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter-days Saints, Ministry of Education, the media and the community.

Took some time at the farm thank you Jesus Christ for according me the time .
Happy New year!!!!
You're Right Chairman 🤝
It's time to forget the past and celebrate a new start!
WHEN we look into our rearview mirror today, what we see most of us in our cupboard of personal pursuits is that just a few things didn't go as per our 1st January, 2022 resolutions. Maybe most of you were building houses like but you couldn't complete them. Maybe some of you could not pass your G.C.E exams. Some of you were hit by natural disasters or perhaps lost your loved ones and that later derailed your 2022 resolutions. It's called life my country people. It's a graph! Ni Mulungu chabe akwasu.
My appeal to you beloved colleagues is that let us not loose hope. We can look forward to a fresh start. Tomorrow will be a new page of the 365 page book. It's blank. Let's ensure that we write good things there.
As we work out our next year's resolutions, let's commit our plans to GOD, The Creator. Jeremiah 29:11 reads; "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Let's believe colleagues! It's time to forget the past and celebrate a new start!
On the part of Chilanga Town Council, an institution I belong to, I strongly believe we've done our best going by the resources that were available. I know, we may have some areas where we could not deliver to your expectations. My appeal is please, continue believing in your local authority and engage us so that we can see how best we can correct things and possibly win together.
The general public must also recognize that as council, courtesy by the New Dawn administration which is being led by His Excellence Mr Hakainde Hichilema, we have additional functions. We're a launchpad for the decentralization policy which our central government has brought to you the public for effective and efficient delivery of services. The government has set aside K 28 million CDF for your local authority next year. Just two days ago, your local authority passed a budget of K 58.1million. We urge you the general public to be conversant with council operations and the CDF programs because they are purely meant for you.
Going forward, we would like to promise that your local authority will be more visible. I say so because within January, 2023, we shall have two brand new motor graders, plus one old one whose engine is being fixed on the Copperbelt. We already have a working compactor, a tipper truck and a brand new water bowlser.
As the Republican President, His Excellence, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema has guided that no government functionary should give excuses next year, your local authority will surely work round the clock in 2023. The New Dawn administration will deliver more and your local authority will be at hand to implement the government programs.
With that said, allow me to wish all of you 12 months of success, 52 weeks laughter, 365 days of fun, 8,760 hours of joy, 525,600 minutes of good luck, and 31,536,000 seconds of happiness. Happy New Year!

Shampe Scolds Munir For His Tribal Remarks
MUNIR ZULU......TETO YAYI!....Don't see yourself as a member of a tribe, but as a citizen of a nation of one people working towards a common goal
IN THE RECENT past, the people of Chilanga, and indeed the country as a whole, has noted with disbelief the behavior of one MUNIR ZULU, who is a Member of Parliament (MP) for Lumezi constituency of Eastern Province. This MP is on record of having been using 'F' words in his debates in parliament and threatening to beat up his fellow MPs in parliament - a thing which is alien to both the honourable house and our collective traditions.
And early this morning, the Lumezi lawmaker said and I quote, "If I was a fortune teller my surname would have been Hazulu and I would have been a darling to some people but unfortunately I remain MZ.. such is the price I shall pay for years to come as they attempt to find faults in me. I detest them and their ugly behavior ! Don't be surprised when you read that they are after my life as they plot all schemes possible using the corrupt", end of quote. What makes fairly intelligent people to say the most alarmingly stupid things?
You see, people who think using tribe are a problem to begin with. What my young brother is saying is extremely alarming and inimical to the peace and unity which our able Republican President, H.E Mr Hakainde Hichilema, is trying so hard to bring to this country.
I must state here that I am an Easterner who identifies with UPND because our forefathers taught us to embrace each other not only in politics but in our everyday lives. A lot of Easterners were on the front line last year to liberate this country from this tribalism which Munir Zulu is envisaging today. Eastenders did this because Zambia has turned into a rainbow where people can no longer identify themselves using tribe.
I understand that when selfish people have tried everything in attaining their selfish goals and have discovered that nothing works, they tend to revert to what they know best which is often tribalism. Instead of explaining to the country how he got a Grade 12 certificate when he was only 1 year old, my young brother wants to use 'Wako Ni Wako'. This isn't good for you my brother. You are literally destroying yourself and my friendly advice to you is that stop dragging the good people of Eastern Province in your Grade 12 certificate issue. You don't need to insult a tribe for you to convince the country that you have a genuine certificate.
Zambia is bigger than any individual. You are not the first MP for Lumezi constituency and nor are you the last one. Ise ma politicians tizakayenda Zambia isala. Stop seeing yourself as a member of a tribe, but as a citizen of a nation of one people working towards a common purpose, ukumvwa weo?
I submit.

CHILANGA COUNCILLORS - DC PLEDGE COORDINATED EFFORTS IN DEVELOPING THE DISTRICT......Sustainable development offers a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice and strengthens governance
By *Chrispine Chambwa* - On Fri, 11th Feb - 2022 (Chilanga - Lusaka)
CHILANGA Town Council councillors yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Chilanga District Commissioner (DC), David Shellen, and presented him with issues needing urgent attention in an effort to develop the district.
And the DC expressed gratitude to the gesture by the councillors saying his office and the councillors serve the same people.
Speaking in an interview with this reporter after meeting the DC on Thursday afternoon, Chilongolo ward councillor, Nicholas Katampi stated that he together with other councillors were very happy to meet the DC who they presented with various challenges needing urgent attention in an effort to develop Chilanga district.
He said that in the recent past, the district has seen the collapse of several houses due to floods which are mainly caused by poor drainages.
He also added that councillors were overwhelmed by reports of breach of labour laws in their various wards by some employers and saw the need to bring the issues to the DC.
"We as councillors held this meeting for we want to see to it that development reaches the ordinary people in our district. We all presented our challenges facing our respective wards which range from labour related issues, social security, economic issues and disaster mitigation. Of late, you've seen that as a district, we have registered several reports of the collapse of houses due to flash floods which are compounded by poor drainages. I think the Kalundu ward councillor came out clearer on this one. He has said that Kalundu compound is a disaster in waiting because he says the area has no drainages. And Councillor Prince harped on the need to foster the conformation of labour laws by some employers who are mainly farm owners," said Katampi. "Other councillors talked about the need to create business and more employment opportunities to the youths and women in the district. You see Chambwa, sustainable development is the pathway to the growth of any community and it's the reason why even our Republican President is prodding on the youths and women to form enterprises. It offers a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice and strengthens governance ".
He continued
"Chambwa, you have been to all the 12 wards and you can see that these challenges councillors are talking about are a common feature in all the wards. As councillors we are extremely delighted to have met with the DC for we have pledged a coordinated approach towards resolving all these challenges ".
And in a separate interview, the Chilanga DC, has expressed growing gratitude to the gesture by the councillors to visit him and present the challenges affecting their various wards adding that 'they seem to understand that we all serve the same people'.
" That's how it's supposed to be. I am glad that these councillors understand that we are supposed to meet and share strategies because we serve the same people," said the DC. "They brought very useful issues and we had a common understanding of them."
The councillors who attended the meeting were Prince Mweemba (New Farms), Monde Kayenge (Mt Makulu), Morgan Liywa (Nyemba), Trust Mutuba (Kalundu) and Katampi Nicholas (Chilongolo).
Others were Anold Dube (Mwembeshi), Jabulani Mutema (Mondengwa), Sinazongwe (Namalombwe) and Chinoya Tungenengene (Kasupe).
