This is why personally I never enter such competitions. I know the game pretty well.

Dumisani cancels creatives' competition as competitors fail to impress

CELEBRATED entrepreneur Dumisani Ncube has cancelled his highly anticipated 2024 Africa Must Think Music and Creatives Competition.

Ncube was on a mission to ignite creativity in the youths in order to empower them as he looked for the next anthem that embodies the spirit of Africa: hustle, perseverance and everything in between.

Young go-getters, music makers and design wizards had their eyes on the Zambian entrepreneur Dumisani Ncube's pockets as he wanted to lay down a K250,000 challenge with his "Africa Must Think Music Competition."

Aspiring graphic designers were also vying for a K50,000 prize for crafting a stellar competition image, while budding videographers competed for a whopping K100,000 by creating a showstopping advert.

According to the entrepreneur, his organising team received an overwhelming number of submissions this year but felt that none of the entries fully embodied the spirit and vision of Africa Must Think.

"We regret to inform you that after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2024 Africa Must Think Competition. While we received many creative submissions, we unanimously felt that none of the entries fully embodied the spirit and vision of 2024 Africa Must Think."

"We appreciate the enthusiasm and hard work from all the participants, your contribution to the competition was valued," said Ncube.

Reactions from the artistic community have been mixed. Many expressed disappointment and frustration, having invested significant time and effort into their submissions.

Meanwhile, Ncube disclosed through a comment his team will devise ways of giving the prize money to the public, "since we had already budgeted it that way. We just couldn’t settle for what was there when we know better could have been done."

SLOW PROGRESS IS GOOD!
Getting zero reactions or response to your business is OKAY.
Having zero income for months is OKAY.
Having sleepless nights out of frustration is OKAY.
Spending 7 years for a 4 years course is OKAY.
What’s not okay is GIVING UP.

Someone texted me some time back asking me how to grow their business because whenever they post no one pays attention. I’m no expert in that field, truth be told I’m still learning how to build but all I say is Consistency and Patience.

Big things take time to build. We started Zina Digital somewhere in 2017-18 and it was nothing close to easy. Records show profits started coming in 5 years later(imagine if we gave up at 2).

The brand is not that huge but I can proudly say the work has been speaking for us. We now work with corporate clients because we were consistent.

There’s always room to grow. Personally I took my time to grow my expertise over the years, now I have a price on my name. I don’t work with certain people and they say you are pompous, when did wanting to work with people who value my skill become “being pompous?”

If I gave up on my dreams 3 years ago, I’d never know what it feels like being where I am right now. The same things that I post everyday make up 98% of my earning and day to day expenses, no lie.

So young entrepreneur, push on, shut down, reboot and push again.
Get a job if you can, save up for capital and chase that dream, it won’t come easy. What you shouldn’t do is Give up.

Keep posting your products even if no one is paying attention.
keep sharpening your skill even if you ain’t getting clients.
Keep studying even if you ain’t getting straight As.
Keep praying even if you feel the prayers are in vain.
Just don’t give up!

For events like weddings, don’t expect your photos taken at Civic Center to look like they were taken at Sarovar or Kingsland City. It doesn’t work that way!

As a photographer, I've learned that capturing exceptional photos goes beyond technical skills. The interplay of wardrobe, location, time of day, and the surrounding atmosphere all contribute to a successful photoshoot.

So today I woke up feeling energetic, it being a Friday. Went for work and realized I left my phone in the bathroom at home…

Well obviously for me, it’s not something to panic about. Personally, I believe that my phone reduces my productivity by a huge percentage, but where there’s a computer, I can stay without worrying about my phone.

Bottom line is that come rain, come sunshine I’d choose a computer over a phone. i believe computers are a must have in every workplace.

I can not imagine how my friend Joseph Jay Mulenga feels because I’ve never seen him using a pc not even once lol 😂.

Otherwise I just got home, found a tone of missed calls and messages, sorry y’all, I’m not a phone person but I’ll reply. And yes madam was vexed cause I didn’t pick up her gazillion calls 😅..
