Working on this Hungwe bird for my country have been so interesting though we had very limited time, that we had to work day and night to reach the target . I love my Zim and God bless Zim .

In the ancient days, when the mighty Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe flourished, the Hungwe bird soared the skies, a sacred symbol of the ruling dynasty. The bird's image was carved into the stone monuments, watching over the kingdom and its people.

Legend has it that the first ruler of Great Zimbabwe, King Dzivaguru, was chosen by God to establish a mighty empire. As he built the grand city, the Hungwe bird appeared to him in a vision, bearing a message from the heavens. God bestowed upon the bird the power to guide and protect the rulers of Great Zimbabwe, ensuring their wisdom, strength, and justice.

For generations, the Hungwe bird watched over the rulers of Great Zimbabwe, from King Dzivaguru to King Mandvinga. The bird's presence was said to guarantee the kingdom's prosperity, fertility, and protection from harm. Its cry was believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune to the people.

As the kingdom prospered, the Hungwe bird became an integral part of the royal court. Rulers would seek its guidance through divination and rituals, ensuring their decisions were just and wise. The bird's image adorned the royal regalia, symbolizing the ruler's connection to the divine.

During times of crisis, the Hungwe bird would appear to the rulers in visions, offering wisdom and counsel. Its power was said to heal the land, bring peace to warring factions, and ensure the continuity of the dynasty.

As the Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe eventually declined, the Hungwe bird remained, watching over the ruins and waiting for the people to remember their glorious past. During the liberation struggle, the bird's spirit was said to have inspired the freedom fighters, guiding them towards victory and independence.

Today, the Hungwe bird remains a revered symbol of Zimbabwe's rich heritage, connecting the people to their ancient roots and the wise rulers of old. Its carved presence at Great Zimbabwe stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the nation .

AT THE WATER SPRING .
My sculpture is finally done after slowly working on it for almost 2 years. I will show the process starting from the mine where we buy these raw stones which is 160km from my workshop. I also encountered many obstacles along the way such as covid attack which took me long to heal but The Lord gave me healing and strength to continue with this creation to this great and marvelous level of work that also surprises me. Sometimes I really don’t know how I do this work . I am also astonished and puzzled by this gift which runs in our generation. Thank you Lord Jesus.

Through the eyes of a struggle and trauma, we seek the rights of all the common man. This piece speaks to ancestors and the living demanding a different consciousness on how we treat one another. This piece was created in part and is dedicated to the movement sparked by George Floyds murder and the treatment of other Black men and women at the hands of police that have taken formal oath to protect and serve.

The stone represents its nature state, and emerging from within the stones of the souls of spirits that can’t breathe. One side represents the individual Floyd spirit trying to break through the rock of discernment to breath. The other side of the stones represents the community that are impacted when the love ones lives are cut short by a lack of human caring for our follow man.

“I can’t breathe” has become an international rally cry against police brutality and dying while in police custody. As we conduct sweeping conversations about race relations reform of policing and others to understanding that “Black Lives must matter, if All Human Life is to Matter. Floyd cries themselves are echoes of Eric Garner, and others victims dying at the hand of people that sworn and to serve. The cries that her couldn’t breathe tugged at the world consciousness. That have sparked outrage and massive protest in the United States and throughout the world
