Curators Statement : In this captivating collection of maps, Zizhou presents a unique perspective on human settlement patterns, routes, structures, and terrain. With a delicate harmony between shapes inspired by nature and those shaped by human activity, "Gray Matter" invites us to contemplate our movement, progress, and search for shelter and the interconnected paths we leave behind on our shared earth.

"CLOSENESS."
Openness and vulnerability are the instruments that remove pieces of our masks. Our close proximity to others who seek to understand us enables them to encounter us authentically, providing them with the necessary clarity to embrace our most fundamental imperfections.

A Garden Of Bodies.
The feminine flower faces the danger of having its petals removed by unwelcome visitors. These unwelcome invasions are a danger not only to the flower but to the entirety of the feminine garden. What the garden faces is an enemy that moves with stealth, an enemy that carries a deceptive tongue and is quick to revise verses while spitting poison disguised as manure.
Sometimes to be woman is to witness Adam becoming a serpent, and your safety in the garden of life becomes your only priority. "This woman you gave me" becomes a burden she carries, and she’s easily dressed with the blame. To be a woman is to be victimized, then expected to live with the shame. To be a woman is to be part of a garden where men come to spill their seeds but not stay to attend to the fruits.
The feminine garden is at risk, for its self-worth can be unlearned when all it has been taught is how to be used and abused but still stay because of the fruits she produced. The feminine garden faces a dry spell because there are no genuine hands to water it.
Despite the gardener’s efforts to change his patterns, the roots he has are deep within the soil of his soul. He was taught to never allow roses to grow. He was taught that roses are only good for you to pluck; roses are only good for you to occasionally place on the bed when you feel romantic and throw in the bin when you’re done.
Until the gardener changes the generational patterns of gardening, the feminine flowers will remain in danger of pilling up into a garden of bodies.

Beyond grateful for the love. Thank you for sharing my work🙏🏾
Of all the songs off the EP, this one means a lot to me. I create passionately. I create wholeheartedly. I pen my thoughts. I pen my feelings. With you, I share the internal and external warfare of a soldier with a pen. These aren’t mere words; these are soul servings and my heart’s compositions.

This project is a fusion of poetry and music. “Beneath The Veil” is referencing to how I believe there are so many truths that exist within different aspects of life, many of which remain hidden. Because we are human and flawed, we tend to hide our true nature, our true emotions, feelings and any other truth of ourselves. This has resulted in there being many veils that cover us, veils that conceal what love truly is, what spirituality truly is and what life truly is. In my walk of life I’m seeking to reveal what is beneath my veil; mask, other people’s veils; disguises.”
