MaCauley Bonne: South Africa's Current Temperatures Too High For The Striker Due To Medical Condition - Ipswich Town Official

Bonne was included in Zimbabwe's 25-man squad set to play South Africa and Ethiopia, named by coach Norman Mapeza but once again, he has ignored the call for strange reasons.

The club secretary Stuart Hayton wrote to Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare at Zifa:

“You are being advised that Macauley Bonne can’t make this time around and the reasons are as follows;

"Mr. Bonne has a medical exemption stating that he should not play football in conditions of high temperature.

"Given the current temperatures in South Africa at this time, it is not advisable for Mr. Bonne to make the trip”

Bonne has eleven goals in the ongoing league campaign and is one of the three top goalscorers of England's League One.

Bonne has in the past failed to honor senior national team calls from former national team coaches Sunday ‘Mhofu’ Chidzambwa and Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic. He has two national team appearances to date with Zimbabwe.

Darlington Dodo Fired From Head Coach Role At Caps Utd

CAPS United dismissed head coach Darlington Dodo, and his entire staff
Dodo’s backroom staff which included Takura Shariwa, Joseph ‘‘Shabba’’ Takaringofa, Witness Munkuli, development coach Stewart Murisa and fitness trainer Vincent Chabwana.

Dodo had been head coach of CAPS since 2019. Dodo will take home the club car he was using while the Green Machine as a part of his 'package'.

This comes days before the premier soccer league starts on Saturday, 11 November.

The immediate reason for the sacking might be the failure to reach knockout rounds, of the Chibuku Super Cup.

Club statements:

“The club can today (yesterday) announce that we have parted ways with Darlington Dodo by mutual consent,’’ said the club.

‘‘Darlington Dodo has been with the club since August 2018, as assistant coach, before taking the coaching reigns in 2019.

‘‘CAPS United FC wishes him well in the future. Further coaching updates will be made in due course.”

However, some individuals thought it was unfair to blame the coach for club failures, calling for a thorough and sober analysis of everyone involved.

Head of club, Farai Jere, said the change in the coaching department is meant to see the Green Machine competing at a higher level.

‘‘We have made some changes to our coaching staff and we have parted ways with our head coach, Darlington Dodo, with immediate effect,’’ said Jere.

‘‘It was a decision which both parties accepted was in the best interest of the club, which should always come first, and we can confirm that we have given Dodo a special package for the services he rendered to our club.

‘‘This includes the car he was using, on club business, which he now takes home as his own and the club will have to find another one.

‘‘We are looking at a number of coaches, who have shown interest in the job, and we will work flat out to ensure we have a coach by the time we play our first league match.

‘‘There is no question that Dodo is a good coach, and a good man, but sometimes we need just a change of direction, because this can just provide the confidence, and boost, which we were lacking.’’

Caps start their 2021/22 league campaign away against ZPC Kariba, at Nyamhunga Stadium, on Saturday.

Gabriel Nyoni Wants To Become ZIFA President In The Future

Former Highlanders and Caps United winger Gabriel “Granvia” Nyoni who is currently working towards a return to the field is looking forward to becoming Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president in the future. Felton Kamambo is Zifa's president for now.

Nyoni is rehabilitating at his Glad Africa Division One side, Cape Umoya in Durban after suffering a career-threatening injury months ago.

Gabriel Nyoni told B-Metro that he is taking football administration courses to become a football administrator.

Over the years there has been cries from local soccer fans over top football adminstrative leaders who seem to have not played the sport before in their lives, with their inexperience being said to be the cause of the up and downs in Zimbabwean Football.

The calls have been to get 'capable' former Zimbabwean football players to join leadership as they are the ones, who on top of leadership qualities, share the passion of football, in order to get better results in local football.

"I am very optimistic. The Bible says as a man thinketh so is he so I remain thinking positively about the future and the possibility of playing football again.

But even if the worst comes to the worst, I still want to remain in football.
And so, for now, I will be taking football administration courses to prepare for a possible return to football as an administrator.

I have a dream to one day become ZIFA president and lead Zimbabwean football out of its continuous downturn."

Gabriel Nyoni’s showing of aspirations meets a time when retired footballers, and players, have intensified efforts of getting someone with a 'footballing history as a player' into local football’s highest office.

CHIBUKU SUPER CUP 2021 NEWS

Fans Angered By Huge Ticket Prices Set By The PSL

The Zimbabwe 'Premier Soccer League' announced a US$20, for the rest of the ground tickets, and US$50 for the VVIP, for the weekend fixtures in the Chibuku Super Cup and this hasn't gone down well with fans who believe the prices are too high. Some have gone on to express their anger on different platforms, calling for the psl to reconsider the prices.

Just to note, US$20 for the Chibuku Super Cup is 10 times the ticket cost for the South African Soweto Derby, between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates (R40).

Fans who will attend the matches will bring to the tickect sales point their national identity cards, and vaccination cards.

Solomon Chingono, who's the Dynamos Supporters Association spokesperson for Harare, said to The Herald the ticket pricing is unbearable for the fans.

“The pegged prices came as a shock to us as supporters, more importantly, coming from a difficult period like the Covid-19 lockdown, where most people have had to make ends meet, with the very little we earn.’’

“The last time we went out to enjoy a football match we paid at most US$3-US$5 Rest of Ground,’’ said Chingono.

“We do understand how Covid-19 has affected most of the clubs but, as fans, we haven’t been spared either.

“We feel the minimum charge is a tad unfair for the ordinary fan.’’

Shungu Kamukapa a local football fan showed his disappointment on Twitter:

“Why do you want to take people for granted, with the type of our football US$20 is madness. In fact, total madness.

“PSL have let down the fans in a very big way by trying to rob Peter to pay Paul.

“All you are after is squeezing the little dollars in our pockets, with no regard in improving the stadiums,” he tweeted.

Dyanamo's huge supporter Chris “Romario” Musekiwa also spoke on the matter:

“PSL is totally offside, the US$20 cheapest ticket for a local club match is unheard of and ridiculous. Even when Brazil came here in 2010, we paid far less than that, to watch some of the world stars,’’ he said.

“If they don’t want fans for the Chibuku Super Cup matches they can openly say so.’’

Eddie “Mboma’’ Nyatanga, adviced the PSL to listen to the fans. He is the founder of the Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters Association founding president.

“Without fans, there will be no football and there is no need for this drama when we should be making our football appeal to the supporters,’’ he said.

Matches will be played on Sartuday & Sunday.

Chicken Inn vs Ngezi Platinum Stars, and FC Platinum and Highlanders at 3pm, (Saturday).

Cranborne Bullets vs Harare City (morning), Dynamos vs Black Rhinos, in the afternoon.

Only 2000 fans will be allowed in the stadium.

Musona: Zifa Should 'Fix Player Welfare Issues' For Zimbabwe To Go Further In Afcon 2022

Musona thinks that the Warriors might go further in the AFCON finals in Cameroon if Zimbabwe's national football authorities fix the issue of player welfare.

The Zimbabwe men's national team captain says the players already believe in their abilities to compete with the best in Africa at the tournament and Zifa amongst other authorities need to do their part in meeting player needs.

Warriors competency has over the years been marred with financial disappointments, scrambled travelling plans, among other issues which have seen the Warriors under-perfoming in major international soccer challenges.

The 31-year old former Kaizer Chiefs star also noted that he's in his retirement phases with the national team. Musona first played for Zimbabwe in November 2010, against Liberia in an AFCON qualifier and has scored 23 goals (including in friendly matches).

Knowledge Musona spoke to Sunday Mail Sport in an interview:

“I think if this issue (player welfare) is fixed, we will go far in this tournament (AFCON 2021) because for some of us, these are our last tournaments in the national team,” he said.

“So if that is fixed, I think we will be good to go and compete against the best because we know and we believe in ourselves,” said Musona.

Knowledge Musona currently plays for Al Tai in Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe at the Afcon 2022 in Cameroon are drawn in Group B along with Senegal, Malawi and Guinea.

After four appearances at the Afcon tournament Zimbabwe are yet to go past the group stages of the competition.

Mapeza The Best For Warriors - He Understands Our Football Says Minister Coventry

Minister Kirsty Coventry says local coaches are the best for the Senior Men's Warriors following appointment of head coach Norman Mapeza.

The Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation Minister said putting Zdravko Logarusic (Croatia) as team coach and leaving him on the job for that long was a mistake.

Coventry's office only learnt at a later stage that Logarusic would come into the country when the national team had an assignment and flew out soon after.

Coventry praised the appointment of Norman Mapeza as a right step by Zifa.

Coventry interview Manica Post.

"I think the appointment of the new coach is a move in the right direction. We really need someone who understands our game."

"I might not have been a team player in my days as an athlete, but I have learnt that for anyone to be a good coach, they need to have a better understanding of the players and environment. That is something that lacked under Logarusic."

"In fact, I only came to learn later that he was flying into the country a few days before an assignment, and would fly out soon after. That is not ideal. It was actually a mistake to have allowed that situation to prevail."

"Now that we have Norman Mapeza, it is a step in the right direction. I hope going into the future, we will continue embracing some of our former players, and give them roles in our national team technical set-up."

"We really need these former players because of their deeper understanding of the environment and style of play."

However, Mapeza is yet to win a match with the Warriors after playing two matches. Played against the Black Stars of Ghana in a WC 2022 Qualifier. Losing 3 - 1 (away) and 1 - 0 (home).

Italy's Media Take A Hit At Jose Mourinho After Roma's Shocking 6 - 1 Defeat To Bodo

Rui Patricio and Tammy Abraham on Il Corriere dello Sport and Carles Perez on Tuttosport received a rating of 5.5, which is the highest rating for a Roma player.
