We cannot wait to yet again be back with the students😀😀
A huge thank you to our volunteers who came through with much excitement and dedication. We really appreciate you👏🏾👏🏾 Siyabonga!
Being a tutor has this one big advantage, you are like a knowledgeable older sibling helping out your little brother/sister with their homework. That is the attitude we have as tutors of the . We do it with love and dedication. Educators do an excellent job at what they do and we are grateful for them. That is why, to achieve optimum results, our tutors work under the guidance of the qualified professional educators.
Would you like to be a Tutor for the ? Don't hesitate to contact us! You have no idea how you can transform the lives of these little ones❤️
We're back😀!
The resumed a week after schools re-opened on the 30th of August. It was a day filled with excitement as we had not seen the students for about 5 months.
There is much to cover 📚📙✏️🖊️ but both the students and the tutors are ready to do the work. Under the guidance of the educators, the tutors are able to help the students get the extra help they need.
The afternoons are boiling hot and the students are drained from a whole day of learning. Special thanks goes to The City Zimbabwe for donating apples and oranges for the students. The fruits were received with much appreciation. Siyabonga👏🏾🙏🏾

It is incredibly heart warming to witness the progress of the learners, and even more to be part of this Grade 7 journey with them.
For the past 2 weeks, we have been tutoring English as it is their most challenging subject. Unfortunately it pours into every other area of their academic life.
The learners are growing in confidence and with that comes increased activity and involvement in the classroom. Some put up their hands and read even though they are struggling, and some read and they are able.
We witness brave little girls and boys every time we have tutoring sessions.
Our tutors hold degrees in various fields, and yesterday we had a qualified English teacher on board. Nyenya

There's a large gap in english literacy in rural schools, and this affects all areas of learning.
It affects their level of confidence, creating a fear of speaking the language itself and affects class participation immensely.
Therefore, we've launched a critical part of the the called the Reading Camp. This will take place on Fridays from 2-4pm.
This will increase their level of confidence, their learning pace, and in turn positively affect their academic performance.
We'd like to express our gratitude to ORAP Zimbabwe (Organisation of Rural Associations for Progress) for the generous donation of assorted reading material. Siyabonga👏🏾

Mine Soup Kitchen
Ngozi Mine is a dump site where all the refuse collected from all neighborhoods in Bulawayo is discarded. Unfortunately, for years now, people have been residing there. The community is made up of approximately 300 households made up of about 1,000 people, with 200-300 being children of various age groups. Being a dump site, there are apportunities of sustaining livelihoods, for example, picking up plastic bottles for recycling.
Under Movement, we took part in running a weekly soup kitchen (Saturdays) from July to early December (2020) so as to offer food aid and hygiene assistance to the minors in the community of Ngozi Mine.
The soup kitchen was a great platform for various individuals and organizations, under Movement, to start conversations on how we can address the socio-economic welfare of the Ngozi Mine community.

We would like to express our gratitude to and 'sTrust for the donation of stationery😄 The learners of Siphezini Primary School received it with much appreciation. With exams being only 2days away, this will go a really long way.
The girl child will also write her examinations in confidence without worrying about her period😊 Nothing will hinder her access to education.
We thank God who continues to bless this project through our partners and the individuals who show their love and support for the .

It's almost 2mths ago that we partnered with Movement for the weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays) soup kitchen.
The soup kitchen program is an amazing platform for us to carry out research into homelessness in Zimbabwe and develop sustainable inventions to reduce this problem.
Last week we had another wonderful opportunity to serve the homeless community here in Bulawayo. We distributed a total of 38 meals.
The journey to Siphezini in just a few pictures☺️
There were many things to consider when I started this project. One of which is that I don't have a car, which would benefit both myself and the volunteers. But daily, I motivate myself with this saying - 'If I wait to have, I'll never give.'
Ecclesiastes 11:4 - "Farmers who wait for perfect weather never sow. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest."
These are not 'perfect' circumstances, but the desire to help is greater. So we hitch hike part of the journey, then we walk that 1,5km dirt road.
Thank you to all the organisations and individuals who through their time, dedication and resources help make this vision come to fruition. We also appreciate the kind strangers who give us lifts - we may forget your faces, but not your kindness.
Lord, none of this would be possible without You. Thank you🙏🏾

CBD Soup Kitchen:
6 weeks ago, we partnered with Movement for the weekly (Tuesday and Thursday) soup kitchen programme for the homeless in the Bulawayo CBD. It has been wonderful to be part of the journey, from the food preparation, to distribution and slowly building relationships with the homeless community here in Bulawayo.
The soup kitchen program is an amazing platform for us to carry out research into homelessness in Zimbabwe and develop sustainable inventions to reduce this problem.
The number of meals given out has steadily increased and as a result, from the time we started to this day, we have distributed approximately 300 meals. The biggest achievement, outside of this, has been to build trust and good relationship with the homeless community.
This would not be possible without the generous support from our partners and donors, who week by week contribute to the success of this soup kitchen. Above all, we thank God who opens doors and makes all this possible. He gives us the desire and ability to do good works (Philippians 2:13).
This Wednesday, we did a General Paper Revision excercise. This consists of Social Studies, Home Economics, Religious & Moral Education, Environmental Science, and AIDS Education.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, schools had to close at the end of March. With a 6 month gap to cover in 2 months, the work load is immense.
There were only 2 textbooks available in the classroom, therefore the students had to share, and this did not phase them. They were willing and very enthusiastic.
The have shown great passion and tanacity, working together with the teachers to prepare the students for the Grade 7 Zimsec Examinations in December. Braving the heat and sacrificing their time and resources to make this initiative possible

The journey to Siphezini Primary School is not the easiest, but it's quite exciting. We commute by bus and it only takes us 3/4 of the way. Then we hitch hike the rest of the way, drop off at the turn off that leads to a 1,5km dirt road where we walk in the unrelenting African sun. However, it is ALL worth it!😃
It's always a blessing to watch how excited the students get when we arrive at the school and they all start calling each other to come back to class.
With the Grade 7 Zimsec national examinations coming up in December, our focus this November is to help the students prepare to write them. We do this using the Examination exercises at the back of their Revision textbooks. This Monday we were revising Agriculture.
'Fundani' is a tutoring initiative aimed at enhancing the academic capacity of students in rural schools. The target community for 2020 is the Grade 7 class of Siphezini Primary School. It is a class of 16 students, 8 boys and 8 girls.
We resumed our afternoon tutoring sessions whereby we revise the work that has already been covered by their teachers, so as to ensure that each child has firmly grasped the concepts taught in the classroom.
On this particular day, we were revising Mathematics - Hire Purchase. The students were actively envolved and enthusiastic as they stage by stage, grasped the learning material. Some even came back after the class was dismissed, they wanted the tutors to break down a few sums and explain how to get a percentage of this, and how to calculate the interest of that.
A big thank you to all our volunteers for your passion and dedication, and to God who makes all things possible. His Vision, his leading.
'Fundani Tutoring Initiative' is the 1st project under VPCT - it is free/voluntary afternoon programme aimed at enhancing the academic capacity of students in rural schools.
The target community in 2020 is the Grade 7 Class of Siphezini Primary School. The school is located in uMzingwane District, Matabeleland South Province of Bulawayo (Zimbabwe🇿🇼). Through the guidance of the teachers of the school and the curriculum, we help bridge the gap left by the numerous factors that hinder students in rural schools from achieving academic competence and excelling in the classroom and eventually in examinations.
We believe in the youth giving back to the community. Our Tutors are young people in their seniors years of high school and those who have attained Diplomas and Degrees in various fields of study.
We started the tutoring program beginning of the year, but unfortunately we had to put the program on hold as per the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic .
The following pictures were taken before the pandemic:
