Before breaking up the 1st XV had their annual rugby dinner in the Beit Hall. The guest of honour was Zimbabwe Sables Captain Mr Hilton Mudariki, who urged the players to enjoy the brotherhood that comes with playing the game.

The Director of Rugby and 1st XV coach Mr Chirengende spoke about "Triumph is only sweet because we know the taste of defeat." Below is an excerpt from his speech:

"As we gather here tonight to celebrate a truly remarkable season, I want to start by acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and resilience each of our players has shown. With only one loss this season, we have achieved something special.

But as we glow in this triumph, I want to take a moment to reflect on something deeper. Victory, as sweet as it is, only shines brightly because we understand the taste of defeat. Each time we step onto the field, we know there is a possibility of loss. It’s that uncertainty that makes winning feel so rewarding.

To the parents here tonight, I encourage you to embrace this idea as well. There will be times when our young athletes face challenges, and yes, even defeats. It’s essential for them to learn how to handle those moments with grace and resilience. Defeat is not the end; it’s an opportunity for growth, for learning, and for coming back stronger.

In our journey, we’ve learned that every setback teaches us valuable lessons, some of the boys here and me, had more losses than wins in the seasons past , but all that has shaped our character and determination. It’s through these experiences that we appreciate the victories even more. Let's continue to support our players, helping them to understand that both triumph and defeat are part of the game—and both are essential for their development.

I also appreciate the hunger and desire for victory , especially for us in this room, we give so much and sacrifice so much, we always want to see that end in victory but Sometimes the push for the wins adds pressure on these young athletes and might sour the whole experience regardless of whether they win or not.

This powerful message resonated with everyone present as we reflected on the hard work, dedication, and resilience our players have shown this season. Each setback has shaped our character and determination, making every victory even more rewarding."

As we look back on this remarkable season, let's continue to support our talented young men, celebrating both their triumphs and the lessons learned from defeat.

The Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola is one of the most important days on our calendar. On the 31st of July, we marked the day with a whole school mass on Neptune’s lawn followed by a variety of sporting and cultural activities. It was a day full of jubilation for we have a lot to celebrate for the greater glory of God!

Our boys' team has a proud history in this tournament, participating in the last 5 editions and securing Silver in 2019 and Bronze in 2022.

Our girls' team has also made their mark, qualifying for the quarterfinals in 2023.
