We are grateful for the recognition given our Chief Executive Officer Sr Veronica Ratidzo Zimunhu by the ZIM Community Trailblazers Awards 2023.
Sr Veronica Zimunhu was conferred the prestigious ZIM Community Trailblazers Awards 2023 Award for Nursing Achievement.
Sr Zimunhu is a pioneering, dedicated and excellence driven nursing practitioner with nearly 50 years of practice under her belt. She opened her first nurse led surgery 30 years ago. This was at a time when a nurse owning and running a medical unit was taboo.
Her legacy includes the tens of thousands of expecting mothers that have accessed, and continue to access, quality and affordable healthcare through her Queen of Peace Clinic. It includes her advocacy for the equal representation and recognition of nurse practitioners in Zimbabwe’s healthcare sector. She served five years as a Nurse Councillor on the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe. Sr Zimunhu is also a founding member of the Independent Clinics Organisation the branch of Zimbabwe Nurses Association that caters for nurses who own their own health centres, where she continues to advocate for nurses in private practice.
Sr Zimunhu enjoys mentoring emerging medical professionals who have ventured into private practice; doctors and nurses alike have benefited from her mentorship. She is an executive member of the Medical and Dental Private Practitioners of Zimbabwe Association, which received a Zim Community Trailblazers Award 2023 for Outstanding Medical Organisation.
Her philanthropy is mainly focused on supporting orphans and valuable children through her work with the Mother of Peace Community Orphanage in Mutoko where she currently holds the position of Secretary to their Board of Trustees.
