We need your help!
After the Matilda's big win Saturday we were keen to host an event for Wednesday nights game. Council have supported this however, the hall is currently booked out on a Wednesday.
So ..... we are making preliminary plans to host the game at Appin United Hall (Sportsground parade) on Sunday evening and we need some community help.
Firstly - would this be a worthwhile event? Would you show up???
Secondly - does anyone have a big screen/ projector/speaker contact??
If so, please reach out 🙏
If (WHEN) we get through the event will be a BYO chair, food, drink event at the Hall.
(Blankets encouraged so everyone can see.)

Media release from Wollondilly Shire Council Mayor Matt Gould.
Councillors have been asking for sensible and sustainable development and decisions have been taken out of their hands.
We know it has seemed a little quiet on the Chamber front- we have been busy juggling new babies, kids starting school, 100's of other committees, and even some nasty health hurdles BUT......we are back and ready to get amongst it!
We would love some new people to jump on board and we welcome you to join our next meeting.
You don't have to own a business, you just have to care about Appin.
Membership forms will be available on the night and also emailed out to past members. Hope to see you there 👍
2 large potholes on Rixon Rd have been reported to Wollondilly Shire Council…
Thanks for notification from Bright Sparks Early Learning ❤️💛💚💙💜
It’s not hard to do- log on to the council portal and report them for repair… if you need help, take a photo, list the address, and Appin Chamber will help report the Appin potholes today!
Imagine that they could all be repaired on the same day!?
It’s not a perfect system… but let’s use what we’ve got!
About 4 years ago, we spent some time putting together a proposal for flag poles along Appin Road…
To promote community events, decorate & to promote our businesses- to let passers by know what is Appin’in in Appin…
(Sorry- I love this “punny” saying! 🤣)
Inviting people to Appin Carols- as an example.
Wollondilly Shire Council put in for a grant for these- and it looks like they were successful, and so we have some flag poles being installed along the main drag.
Usually, we come across with “location” issues in Appin… problems with permissions on a State Road, ownership of land between private, crown and council- it’s a planning mish mash!
Is it where we wanted them? No.
We had big ideas for the entirety of Appin Road- from Rixon to Church- but I bet this plan was knocked back due to being a State Road.
Some of the property at the front of the shops is council owned- so this is probably where they were allowed to put them.
Some of the property out the front of the shops is private… we came across this issue when installing planter boxes last year.
Is it the amount we wanted? No.
We originally planned for 24 along the main drag for some super sexy flags, and Christmas decorations.
Grant money- we have learned- is for specific purpose, and has to be used to support very specific projects… Annoying when we have greater needs (and in Appin, we do!)… but it is the system that Local Councils are forced to work within.
Am I grateful that Appin was included in this project? You betcha!!
❤️💛💚💙💜
We are one of the 4 towns that were approved in the Wollondilly- we cannot complain about being left out on this one!!
🌟 On another note:
We also have put forward a request for a path down Rixon Road- from Appin Road to the soccer fields… to make it easier to get there with prams, and make the bike path from the Valley continuous to this space…
We may have to wait for another grant for this.
If you have any other ideas for Appin- let us know. A few of our councilors are very good at advocating plans for us- but we do need to be able to give them a clear idea of what we want- and know that we are ALL never going to agree, and know that it takes WAY more time than you would expect!! Lol 😂
(Patience is not my virtue!!)
Yes- council are responsible for waste and potholes.
Make sure you report potholes through the portal… maybe the more of us that report… the faster the potholes get fixed??
If you find some quiet time to yourself today- maybe use it wisely and report your top 3 roads dingers!
Chatting all things Appin with Adam Zahra for Campbelltown - Pauline Hanson's One Nation
When adding 19000 homes along Appin Road, we ask- where is the infrastructure first?
🚓 How long does it take for police to arrive when we are robbed/assaulted?
🚑 How long does it take for an ambulance arrive when your child has an accident?
🚂 Is there a capacity for rail travel to and from Appin, or are we all forced to use private vehicles? Does this help the access issues with have, with extra demand on Appin Road?
🐨 What happens to the existing koala colonies? Wouldn’t the development be better suited to agritourism? Where’s the fauna underpass?
🏫 Where do the extra children go to school? All children travel out of Appin for High School- where are the direct buses?
🛣 When the road closes- how do we get to our jobs, home to our families… there has been many a time when this town has been cutoff by a single road closure- forcing traffic over a one way bridge at Broughton Pass, around Wilton or Douglas Park… if you’re willing to take on another gorge
🏘 19,000 homes- no employment precinct? Where do these people work? Is this a space of “affordable housing” where everyone has to leave in order to live?
❤️💛💚💙💜

🎇 The countdown is on for the highly anticipated return of the Illuminate Wollondilly Festival of Art & Light on 20, 21 & 22 May 2022.
🎉 After almost three years of Covid-19 cancellations, Wollondilly Council is bringing the festival back, bigger and better than ever. With a range of events and activities happening over the three days, there will be something to entertain everyone.
🏮 On Friday 20 May the Picton Botanic Gardens will come to life with lights, an illuminated sculpture and lantern display, a lantern parade and a sensational long table dinner.
🎨 A three day Art Exhibition with the Wollondilly Arts Group will commence in the Picton Shire Hall on Friday, with Artisan Markets to be held on Saturday.
🎠 The MAC family carnival will make a comeback, this time at Hume Oval on Friday 20 May from 5pm - 9pm and Saturday 21 May from 3pm - 9pm. It is the perfect stop for some fun and entertainment between checking out the activities in the Botanic Gardens or heading down to the main festival in Menangle Street on Saturday night.
😋 The main festival will be in Picton on Saturday 21 May with market stalls, the food court, building projections and light displays, and a live entertainment stage packed with local community and music performances. The lighting and lantern display will continue at the Picton Botanic Gardens and Hume Oval, with the fireworks display over the township capping off the night at 9pm.
🎷 On Sunday 22 May there will be a relaxing afternoon of jazz and swing performances in the Picton Botanic Gardens from 12-4pm.
👉 C91.3 will also be back broadcasting live from Picton Hotel for the week of the festival.
