Amazing crystal stalagmites and stalactites. The 'mites go up and the 'tites come down. When one has ants in one's pants, the mites go up and the tights come down. This area is known for its best fossil beds. In amongst the limestone caves reveals amazing megafauna, marsupials and rodent fossils.

We love visiting kindergartens & day care centres and introducing kids to animals they have never met before! It's so important to teach our next generation the value of our wildlife as they will only protect what they cherish.

Today we are excited to be visiting our friends at West Dale kinder in East Gippsland for the 14th year!

We are so privileged to be welcomed as part of the celebrations for NAIDOC week 2024.

This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.

The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

How fantastic is this good news story! Our little pocket environmental engineers are thriving back where they belong. More of these habitats need to be protected from foxes and cats to help our native diversity thrive.

We love our Australian wolf! Dingoes need stronger protection as our apex terrestrial predator and a keystone species in our ecosystem

Something our state governments need to prioritise, these pests don't belong in our amazing wild places!

Still as true today as it was a few years back when amazing bug man and photographer .wild made this graphic.

Ash, our beautiful Masked Owl is one of the animals you can meet in our extremely popular educational incursion, "Vanishing Species."

We have been doing more and more of this session lately. It's definitely a good sign that there is more schools showing a greater interest in the conservation of our flora and fauna for the future.

This week, we have taken our growling grass frogs, Mary River turtle, lace monitor, broad headed snake, bandicoot, woylie, fruit bat, spotted quoll, and of course ash with many other species as well joining the sessions.

A new talking point is our Wollemi pine and Betka bottle brush as two very endangered plant representatives!

We are pretty happy to see the City of Greater Bendigo council put in place outdoor cat restrictions along with others such as Knox City Council and Yarra Ranges Council
It is responsible owners desexing cats and keeping them contained we support, but letting your cat outside is sadly just bad pet ownership and increasing the extinction crisis.

Australia is a lot quieter than it used to be.

Since their introduction in the late 18th century, feral and roaming pet cats have had a HUGE impact on of our native wildlife.

They’ve helped hunt 27 of our native species to extinction.

We’ll never get the chance to see the Broad-faced Potoroo, Desert Bettong or Paradise Parrot. They’re gone.

What a better way to start the week than full days of Endangered species programs with my sweet Queenie.
I'm so privileged to work with such an amazing species and a quoll that loves cuddles!

Today is National Bat Appreciation day!

We love bats at Black Snake Productions, we love sharing the importance of these incredible animals in the environment to everyone we meet.

These are intelligent, social, caring and beautiful native animals that are a keystone species to our forests.
Here's three ways to help fruit bats

1. Use wildlife safe fruit netting and not illegal netting that traps and kills native birds, reptiles and bats!

2. Plant native flowering and fruiting trees for our stunning wildlife, maybe even plant some fruiting trees just for wildlife!

3. Support wildlife carers, there's so many amazing people helping our wildlife such as Moonshadow Flying Fox Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre and Bungalook Creek Wildlife Shelter to name a just a couple.
