Recovery Day Winnipeg

Beautiful day to enjoy the “cukes of our labour”. Clients tend to the gardens here at Aurora and have grown all of the vegetables from seed starting earlier this year! Learning how to grow your own food and eating healthy is all a part of the holistic approach to recovery we offer at Aurora.

At Aurora, we are committed to providing holistic and innovative approaches to addiction treatment, ensuring our clients not only achieve sobriety but also build a sustainable, fulfilling life in recovery. As part of this commitment, we propose the introduction of a comprehensive skill-building, vocational training, and work program within our treatment framework. This initiative aims to empower clients by providing them with practical skills, work experience, and the confidence needed to successfully reintegrate into society. By incorporating these elements into our inpatient program, we can significantly enhance recovery outcomes and foster the development of recovery capital.

International Overdose Awareness Day August 31

We remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind.

Our Brandon Reunification Centre families went for a “last week of summer before school” swim at the Brandon Sportplex - tons of fun and lots of bravery jumping off the diving boards!!

Friday evenings are Guest Speaker Nights at Aurora! One of our Alumni visited the centre and shared her story of struggles and sobriety and answered questions from our current clients about triggers, boundaries, and how she keeps motivated.

She spoke about how the Traditional Program at Aurora helped her reconnect with her culture and how she now attends drum groups, sundances, and is active in helping others in the recovery community any way she can. She shared her love for singing and drumming through performing the Rainbow Song for us. Congratulations of two years Bambilyn! Migwitch!

Fire up the oven! It’s wood fired pizza night! Chef Jamie prepared an array of pizzas for the clients tonight using our wood fired oven!

Tonight at Kraft Korner clients learned how to make macrame rainbows and cacti! This is a fun craft you can do at home with friends and family and opens up the doors to learning more about the art of macrame and artistic expression! Keeping busy and developing healthy hobbies are just one of the tools we teach at Aurora recovery Centre.

The main course for this evening is Creole chicken, presented with a flavorful Wild Rice Blend and Mediterranean vegetables, alongside a crisp apple fennel coleslaw.

There are many paths that work together in our recovery. In addition to other practices, such as AA, etc.. we also offer onsite Recovery Dharma meditation, meetings and study.

Tonight clients had the opportunity to join Kraft Korner for an exciting paint night with Director of Activities, Lisa! Not only do participants learn how to have sober fun in a safe, supportive setting, but they discover how to mix colors, utilize painting techniques and learn step-by-step how to paint a picture start to finish. Clients were encouraged to make the painting as individualized as they are. It is always exciting to see what the results will be!

Indigenous way of life medicine picking day and teachings. ❤️ Today our Knowledge Keepers Tara and April took some of our clients out to teach them how to identify and pick essential medicine plants for healing and recovery.

The ARC Squad delivered an exceptional performance at the Icelandic Parade today, showcasing their vocal talents, stage presence, and crowd interaction skills. This is Recovery! This is Aurora!

Yesterday, Aurora staff participated in the 20k Challenge For Life Walk in support of Cancer Care Manitoba. This event raised over $1.6 million dollars!

Pride month is dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of le***an, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride. Aurora celebrates all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, striving for freedom and equal rights.
