THEME FRIDAY #7: MOVIE CHARACTER DAY!

Our campers and counsellors displayed their favourite superheroes, princesses and movie characters at camp today. The superhero’s joined their forces to form an alliance to save the world, while the princesses built their castle and the minions were caught laying by the pool!

Theme Day #6 was underway today with sightings of animal groups at Sport Western.

The flamboyance were pink and excited running around camp showing off their beautiful flamingo colors! 🦩🦩🦩

The penguins gathered in their waddle and showcased their walks to the rest of the campers. 🐧🐧🐧

The cows assembled in formation for their flink and posed for the cameras before their fans showed up and dragged them away.  🐮🐄🐮🐄

Next Week’s Theme Day is: dress up as your favorite MOVIE CHARACTER DAY.

COUNSELLORS OF THE WEEK for week 5:

SLIDE 1: DEVIN (JR DRAMA)

Devin is new to our staff team this year, and other than being a super athlete for our varsity volleyball team, she is also a super counsellor. Devin was in charge of the dance moves for Jr Drama’s performance and showed off her jazz hands and creative dance moves with her campers. Keep up the good work Devin!
 
SLIDE 2: IAN (JR KIDS ZONE)

Ian is very personable and can bond with any of our campers. His warm energy and radiating smile tends to get through any camper having a hard day! If you are having a tough day, swinging by Ian will for sure put a smile on your face. Keep up your energy Ian!
 
SLIDE 3: ROBYN (SR MULTI SPORT)

Any camp that Robyn is in, she is continuously engaging campers through her specific sports trivia. Robyn is an amazing athlete and can participate in and teach any sport to her campers without hesitation. You can catch her at the squash court or with her badminton goggles with absolute talent. Robyn is a jack of all trades and is ready to step up into any role!

THEME DAY #5 was underway this Friday as our campers and counsellors dressed up in Carnival Theme with Whacky Hair! For Carnival Day, our junior campers got their face-paint 🎨of choice, and our senior campers enjoyed some fresh popcorn!🍿All of the camps watched Junior Drama’s Carnival Circus short play and had an awesome dance party after! Next weeks Theme Day is: dress up as your favourite animal. Stay tuned for more updates !!

Counsellors of the week:
Laura (JR KIDS ZONE) Laura is our vet, and has always led as example to other instructors and campers. Her enthusiasm, communication and spirit reflects all of the core values we put forward to our staff. Obey (JR SOCCER) Obey is our soccer superstar! He is always working up a sweat by participating in the soccer competitions everyday. In the parking lot you can spot him fairly quickly as he always has a smile on his face with smooth dance moves. Kate (JR KIDS ZONE) Kate is consistently reliable and a great team player. She does an excellent job taking care of our upset campers and puts a smile on their face through her magic words and her positive energy. She is very easygoing and a great asset to our team.

This week at camp, Junior Drama have been working hard on their creativity and acting skills and have decided to run their own short play: The Mustang Circus 🎪 🎡🎠 From lions to acrobatics, the campers are getting ready to perform to their fellow peers alongside our 5th Theme Day: Circus Theme! SR SCIENCE: Eye Dissection

Senior scientists finished off the week learning about the visual system. In today’s dissection they applied their knowledge by isolating the cornea, iris, lens and retina! Way to go Senior Science!

Senior science will be running again week 6!

MULTI-SPORT: JR & SR

Does your child love playing a variety of sports? Multi-sport camps offer dynamic programming that has something for everyone! These camps run every week with variations adapted for outdoors.

MUSTANGS BASKETBALL (8-17y):

Enjoy a blend of skill development and games? We are lucky to have our very own mustang varsity athletes running their 4th consecutive week of camp. Next week will be the last week it will be running this summer. It is open for ages 8-17, do not miss out!

Slide 1: Usher (Jr. Science)
Usher has been continually upping his game each week at camp. He throws all his energy into creating the most immersive and quality programming imaginable. Usher went above and beyond with his “super scientists” and impressed us all during his science fair last Friday!

Slide 2: Eden (Jr. Multi-Sport Outdoors)
As an instructor, Eden shines by using her gift of interacting with kids to make each camp a highlight. Her constant drive to include and support all campers rubs off on other staff, and she has received numerous shootouts from happy parents. We are so grateful for your hard work Eden!

Slide 3: Brendan (Jr. Kids Zone)
Brendan is a seasoned and reliable group leader who brings along a calm and collected presence every day. He excels at dealing with excited campers and difficult situations. He has stepped up multiple times to take on extra responsibility without being asked, such as helping with rain day pick-ups. Thank you for being a pillar of our team!

JUNIOR SCIENCE! 🪐🔭🚀👽

Mr. Usher and his team of super scientists took a trip across the galaxy today learning all about outer space and physics! Check out some of their own planets that they are excited to showcase tomorrow!

Jr. science again week 6, while Sr. Science will be running week 4 & 6.

RUGBY TIME!

Mustang Rugby (ages 8-12) has been in full action this week. This camp will also be running next week (week 4). A great opportunity to learn and enjoy!

Slide 1: Karly (Jr. Multisport)
Karly is the ultimate team player. As a regular group leader, Karly thrived in her role as an instructor to allow others to have leadership opportunities. She has a top-notch attitude, takes lots of initiative, and never seems to fatigue. Her performance is a reminder that it is not a title that defines a leader, rather is what they do while in a role.

Slide 2: Sinead (Sr. Art)
Sinead’s presence is immediately noticeable. Her calm demeanor, incredible patience and maturity are just a few characteristics that make her one of a kind. Wherever she goes, Sinead makes a very inclusive environment which makes both campers and staff feel at home.

Slide 3: Bridget (Jr. Soccer)
In her debut as a group leader, Bridget rose to the challenge by running our first Jr. Soccer camp of the summer. She is a clear natural, enforcing respect between campers and of the spaces that they used. Her camp was one of the cleanest of the week, and she is a big asset to our team!

Sport Western just took a dazzling detour into the neon universe as our second theme day of the year! Our campers and counsellors embraced the electrifying glow of vibrant colours🎨 From luminous neon shirts and headbands to glow -in-the-dark sunglasses, our campers and counsellors truly set the stage for a day full of energetic fun. To continue our Friday traditions, the theme day for next week is…….TIE-DYE 🌈 Stay tuned for more updates!

Slide 1: Rod (Sr. Archery)

Rod (aka “Hot Rod”) continually sets a higher standard each week of camp. He puts his 110% effort into making sure every day of camp is memorable not only for his campers, but his staff as well. We are so thankful to have Rod be a role model for the rest of our staff, and are pumped campers get to experience his positivity.

Slide 2: Paige (Sr. Aqua Sport)

As an instructor, Paige made an immediate impact by going above and beyond her role every day. The admin team was very impressed with her top tier initiative and responsibility. We are so excited to see Paige grow throughout the summer!

Slide 3: Calum D. (Sr. Multi-Sport)

From his first Wild Western Day, Calum was able to jump into a group leading role with ease. His calm patience, creativity, and sense of humor create a very safe and inclusive environment for campers to feel at home. In addition to his relation with campers, Calum brings the best out of his fellow staff members and improves team morale.

NEW CAMP ALERT: Board Games!

Week 1 featured this new camp to Sport Western programming. Campers had the opportunity to learn new and share some of their favourite games! Our senior camp impressed us all with their creativity while making their very own games.

Sr. Board games is returning for weeks 3, 5, and 7.
Jr. Board games is running weeks 2,4 and 8.

The first Sport Western theme day is underway for our camps! Our campers and counsellors showed off their favourite sports teams and athletes! ⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🥎🎾🏐🏉🏒🏑🥍🏂🎿Next week we will be having Theme Day 2:NEON. Stay tuned for more updates!
