Snapshots from a great night with the Aarhus C++ User Group last week. C++ can attract quite the crowd – eager to discuss all aspects of the programming language they all share a passion for, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup.

Our own Søren Hansen guided the C++ enthusiasts safely through the program, and there were great talks by good people from Mjølner Informatics (Peter Rickers, Bent Bisballe Nyeng, Jacob Toft Pedersen, Morten Haahr Kristensen – the ladder is also a long-term member of the ORBIT community and a master student here at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University).

BatteryPark, one of our in-house student startups, will represent Aarhus Universitet at an IDA pitch event at Folkemødet.

Together with three other startups from Danish universities, they will present their startup to a panel and the audience.

ABOUT BATTERYPARK
​​BatteryPark is a startup run by four students from the study program. They are developing a solution for charging and storing electrical bicycle batteries.

Electrical bicycle batteries represent a significant part of the bike’s total value. To prevent theft, some bicycle owners demount the batteries when they park their bikes and carry the – often very heavy – battery with them. If the battery needs charging, the bicycle owner must bring a power supply and find a power outlet.

BatteryPark’s solution consists of lockers where bike owners can store and charge the batteries. The lockers hold the most commonly-used power supplies. The goal is to place the lockers at strategic locations around campuses and downtown areas, where bike owners can benefit from the charging option and the storage aspect. Soon, you might be able to try out their test setup on campus. Stay tuned!

Oh, and they were just awarded a from Fonden for Entreprenørskab, and recently they received the grant administered by The Kitchen AU and awarded by Grundfos.
