🧡🍁🧡🍂🧡The perfect activity for

We’re going on a leaf hunt!

Depending on which side of the hemisphere you are on, you may be experiencing some beautiful Autumn colours right now.

Why not head outside on a leaf hunt? Collect leaves of different shapes, sizes, and colours. Talk about the textures and colours to make the experience as sensory as possible.

Once you've gathered leaves, use them as part of an outdoor musical session by crunching them underfoot, tapping sticks together, or shaking small branches to the rhythm of your favourite song.

You can even create a "leaf shaker" by putting some crunchy leaves in a small container!

Whatever the season, we hope you have lots of fun playing outside this month.

It probably comes as no surprise that we are huge fans of nursery rhymes and the benefits they bring to early childhood development. Here are just 5 reasons why we love them so much!

1. Language Development: Nursery rhymes help children with language development by exposing them to the rhythm, repetition, and rhyming words, enhancing their vocabulary and pronunciation.

2. Cultural Variations: Nursery rhymes exist in various cultures worldwide, often with similar themes but different characters and settings, showcasing the universality of these simple stories.

3. Memory Boost: The repetitive nature of nursery rhymes aids in memory development. Children can remember and recite them easily, strengthening their recall abilities.

4. Emotional Connection: Singing nursery rhymes can create strong emotional bonds between children and caregivers, providing comfort and security through familiar, soothing rhythms.

5. Cognitive Skills: Nursery rhymes often involve counting, sequences, and storytelling, which support cognitive skills like number recognition and narrative understanding.

Congratulations to a great group of Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Early Years Educators, and what fabulous feedback! It was a joy to co train with the fantastic staff from Wolds Childcare in such an enabling, engaging, language rich environment where ‘Growing Talk Practice’ is embedded throughout the day.
We look forward to more working together, sharing ‘Growing Talk’ practice far and wide. 🎉👌🎉

The new school bags are bought and packed and the next chapter has begun for many of young ones. We wish all our sunflowers, the smallest and the tallest, the very best of luck and fun in their new surroundings, may they grow in every direction! Also sending love and best wishes to all our mums , dads and carers waving them goodbye for the first time and to their new educators who will be ready to welcome them all aboard. 🥰😘
