We had so much fun in Kapiti on Tuesday celebrating Youth Week! 🤩💜
Our young people had a wonderful time, it was a really positive day and everyone got stuck in and gave the games and activities a go!
We had games and delicious snacks, a bunch of hoola hoops and juggling balls! The hospitality class were taking orders from their peers and making a variety of hot and cold beverages. The best thing was seeing our learners so happy, relaxed and mingling with one another, a perfect way to celebrate Youth Week!!

On Rāpare (Thursday) 14th Mahuru (September) for the 2023 Māori Language Movement! 🥳

We will be doing activities throughout the week, but on Thursday at 12pm NZT, join us as we all take part at the same time! You can Kōrero (speak), Waiata (sing), Pānui (read) and more! Whatever you do, do it in Te Reo Māori! 🖤

This movement marks exact moment the Māori Language Petition was Presented to Parliament in 1972 on the first Māori language day. 📑

Capital Training recently attended the employment expo run by LSV- Limited Service Volunteer, Trentham, Wellington 🤜🤛. This expo is run so the so the trainee's (on the 6-week course) can look at options for further studies or employment opportunities.💼

Was great to catch up with Tom from Capital Training this afternoon to learn about the amazing work they do with young people in our community. With seven campuses spread across the lower North Island, they're reaching out to about 1100 individuals, offering them the opportunity to build their skills and prepare for the realities of the modern workplace.

Their mission statement is "Building on strengths, achieving goals and developing skills for life" - something I wholeheartedly endorse. They provide a confidence-building environment where learners develop practical employment skills while simultaneously earning national qualifications. Whether it's in Thorndon Quay, Upper Hutt, Porirua, Paraparaumu, Waipukurau or right here in Lower Hutt, Capital Training is making a real difference in our communities.

What I particularly admire is their belief in giving everyone a second chance at education. They firmly hold that with the right support, everyone can learn and achieve their potential. Literacy and numeracy are fundamental to learning, and Capital Training provides tailored training, focusing on individual learning plans that evolve through regular reviews between tutor and learner.

👏 Kudos to the team at Capital Training for their dedication and the incredible impact they're having on our youth and wider community!

Yesterday two of our staff members attended the - Limited Service Volunteer, Trentham, Wellington expo. This was attended by two Hurricanes players, Aidan Morgan and Reed Prinsep who were inspiring the cadets to reach their goals 🙌LSV have an awesome 6-Week course for young people who are not studying or working to provide essential skills, and help seek employment, while keeping healthy and fit!💪
